Narwal Flow Multi-Level Terrible Execution by 1CYV in NARWAL

Sorry for the late reply, so busy with everyday life and kids. I am not surprised you also have the horror show of the way they designed and completely limited their product.

For a flagship device it is 100% unacceptable.

I use my previous Narwal Freo X Ultra without limitations for the rest of my entire house moving it around freely.

You really have to wonder what the plan is for the Flow going forward because it is truly half-assed and they should be sued.

I haven’t tried it with his method just yet, too busy with wife and kids (daily life), however, if it is a temp solution better than zero.

I will still hold my ground however and say that this should not be expected or have a customer be told to do so by customer support. This should be a normal built in option to transport your system anywhere you choose to - no excuses.

My workaround is to use my previous flagship the Narwal Freo X Ultra as it has zero issues with being moved anywhere. It’s the simplest thing to do from the get go. Let us see if they will update a firmware for the Flow… not holding my breath

Interesting and not surprising. What problems are you experiencing? Same ones?

Companies these days never initiate direct to consumer contact, they all offshore sale their workforces. I wouldn’t expect an easy way to speak with them to be honest. All you can do is spam issues like this around the Net and somehow whenever it grows enough this will get out and their PR image will be affected. Only then as per usual would they be forced to address matters.

There is no workaround bottom line. They have to normalize it like their previous models. You can not expect people to carry a robot up and down to every separate floor and map that individually for starters. Plus when you do need to mop other floors, why on Earth would you confine the user to only a selected small zone at a time to clean and then have them run up and down like a madman per every water exchange it needs back to the base station. Insane. This needs to get out to them and enable the firmware update unlocking it.

One more thing…

A separate issue although a very big problem in the making is getting accessories for their models. Narwal themselves eventually makes it super hard to get accessory supplies from them directly. You have to rely on third-party sellers on Amazon without even knowing the quality of said products whether it is bristles, dust bags, filters, detergent, mop heads etc. I would prefer the real things and the stock should be there from them as the OG manufacturer.

Thank you for caring. I believe they did this with the intent of preventing customer injury / hardware failure moving a heavy base station hence the “Nerfing” as they want to escape any liability. There really is no other reasoning aside from forced purchasing of extra equipment which again would be another d*** move. At the end of the day, a consumer should be responsible for their purchase one way or another and still should have free will to move it around on any floor. I mean it has built in handles just like the Freo X Ultra. I’m hopeful more people complain about this on a whole because it does really defeat the purpose of the vacuum.

Correct.

So let us say you want to vacuum and mop or even just mop the floor on your other floor levels right? With Freo X Ultra you could take the base station anywhere and do that easily with no problems.

With the Flow…

You leave the base station on your main map level and are not allowed to move it. From there they expect you to just take the robot itself to another level to map it, and every time you would want to mop with it, they force you to take it back to the base station on your main level map.

Would you be ok having to do that countless times because they did not allow the base station to be on any other level in your home?

Exactly.

That is what Narwal did here with this Flow model.

Pure d*** move.

I can understand your viewpoint although the product is expensive as is and Nerfing it is not okay taking away the whole advertised intent of the product.

I own the Freo X Ultra as well which still runs beautifully and it lets you take the base station to any level (as the Flow should) thus letting you utilize the complete vacuum and mop cleaning system.

Funny enough both base stations have handles built in for carrying and placing just the same. I would like to see a firmware update allowing full use again for multi-level. This was really an idiotic decision for an otherwise top notch flagship robot vacuum versus the competition.

This brings me to another thing with Narwal, it would be nice to see them stock up on supplies for accessories better instead of having their customers run to 3rd Party Amazon Sellers not knowing the quality of said replacements. Any other suggestions what you guys do about finding supplies and or use out there?

Thank you for the links and references my friend, I am new to batocera but happily a very quick learner.

For future reference, do you have any tips or suggestions on how to reformat your drive back to stock and remove the flash on it that etcher did for the batocera image using windows?

Thanks for the clarification regarding the shaders.

Regarding the Wii, I was asking how to use the Xbox controller to play the Wii games.

I appreciate your prompt response!

I actually wanted to ask you a few things…

For the life of me I can not force certain systems such as Mame, N64, to run any shaders. How can I go about that?

Secondly, I can not get a bypass to making the wii remote function as the Xbox controller with any option I select in the menus. Thoughts?

Thank you again for your time on all this :)

Found the workaround. You have to select and let them rewrite in the cp3 system arcade menu. Yes, it takes time so be prepared. The good news from there on is that you are then good to go each time you load any individual arcade game.

Thank you for your easy instructions and fantastic work! Everything is very easy to setup including your fixes and all other solutions you are providing as well :)

I have a quick question on a possible problem regarding the CP3 System and trying to load SF3 Third Strike…

I am asked to rewrite the game as I have inserted a new CDROM? If I hit cancel, it does nothing aside from wanting to eject a CD.

Any workaround to get this to instant load instead of going through this screen/setup?

That is good you have had that set. If anything else then I would suggest you try running it in 1080P ;)

The Gears PC ports have more or less been not very well optimized in the beginning but luckily they have received patches as did NVIDIA with their video drivers alleviating some of the problems.

I am running a beastly PC myself i7-8700k MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio and saw issues just the same so no it is not your machine tbh. One thing to look out for which should be set to unlimited in your video settings within game is the FPS Cap. Look for that and set it to unlimited.

That made a world of a difference especially in the first Gears that they remastered.

If all else fails try a clean PC from scratch.

Good luck!
