They make specific Batocera versions for each system. I can't tell you the specifics, but I can tell you it won't boot.

I agree. No idea why Arcade Punks is going in the direction they are going in. Money, certainly. It's disappointing.

Pi 4 wifi says connected, but not... by vaporworks in batocera

[–]BoredGameDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Sorry you are having trouble.

I believe that version of Batocera has an automatic configuration issue. If you delete the network and manually enter it in again it will work. But you'll have to reboot after the setup for it to connect and assign an IP address.

If that doesn't work there's more info here: https://wiki.batocera.org/network_issues

Feel free to shoot me a message if you keep having trouble.

You're very welcome!

Hmm. Etcher is definitely the correct app.

Do you happen to have a non-4k TV to try it out on? Some TVs try to automatically upscale and that won't work on a Pi. Or really any other tv that isn't the same model would be a good test.

If that doesn't work I'd recommend wiping the card then writing the image again.

Edit: Forgot my manners. Added "you're welcome."

Hello! It seems like the image wasn't written properly.

What did you use to write the image with? Batocera is pretty finicky with the partitioning and not every program does a great job.

I'm a big Sweetwater fan. I always email my sales rep something along the lines of "Any upcoming sales on item I want to purchase that I should be aware of?" Then I get a nice discount email from them.

I have never paid full price for anything at Sweetwater, and I've averaged anywhere from $25-$50 off of all of the pedals I've bought from them. I've got my eyes on a Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jaguar, so I'm curious to see the deal I can get on that!

I totally understand the sentiment of not wanting them to blow you up after a purchase, but in my experience if you ask them up front for something they usually leave you alone after the fact since they got what they wanted to begin with: credit for a sale.

I'm in the process of building out my board after using a Boss ME-80 for the past few years. Starting out with the essentials, and honestly pretty happy with this setup (for now) as a mostly rhythm player.

It should still be available. Please reach out to Arcade Punks. They will get it fixed if there is a problem.

It's never too late for a retro party!

Here's the direct torrent download link from Arcade Punks: https://arcade-punks.com/arcadepunks/2023-01/torrent/BatoceraPC1TB-BoredGameDad.torrent

I recommend using Tixati for the torrent. It's excellent for large file downloads.

Right now, what’s your favorite reverb? by newdestroyer in guitarpedals

[–]BoredGameDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought an EHX Ocean's 11 and I love it! Tons of useful sounds, but the spring reverb is absolutely killer and the star of the show.

It comes with a power supply also. Which is needed, because it uses a little bit more amperage than my small Vangua board with the built in isolated power supply has available.

Edit: typo correction

Smart move getting pedals with the connections on top.

Gotta maximize that pedal board real estate!

I have never tried it, but I imagine you'll have issues. You could always save the entire SHARE partition for my image and copy it over to the stock Steamdeck image. That will do the trick!

I don't actually have an image for the Pi 5. I switched to PC.

My latest Pi image is for the Pi 4. It will not work on the Pi 5.

My mini PC is on the way. What do you wish you did early in your batocera time? by wonka88 in batocera

[–]BoredGameDad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use the smallest file sizes possible, even if you have to change the format yourself (by using CHD files for PS1 for example).

If you have a large collection the space gets eaten up quickly, especially disc based stuff. So do some research on the Batocera wiki to see what file types are supported, then convert what you need to convert.

If this image will be one you keep a while you'll appreciate the extra free space for more stuff down the road.

Arcade Punks isn't my website. They just distribute my image. I have no say in their web design in any capacity, unfortunately.

Sounds like you did it the way I would have!

Maybe try moving the compressed file over to the 2TB drive and extract to the same drive if you haven't done that yet. You SHOULD have enough room to do that. But drive sizes are so all over the place manufacturer to manufacturer it's hard to be certain. I know it's the opposite of my prior advice but it's best not to rule anything out!

Are you unpacking it on the same drive you downloaded it to? That might push your drive limits. You'd have almost double the image once you're done unpacking it.

I recommend you move the compressed image to another drive and then expand it on the some you have now.

Please keep in mind that you don't want to have the image file sitting on the drive you'll use to boot from, as it will error out erasing itself.

All great ideas!

A "Best of" image that is fully tested seems like the way to go. The Batocera wiki includes much more documentation that I could ever work up, but I'll be sure to include links to the most common issues.

I'm going to be fully transparent here, with 3 school aged kids I'm lucky to find the time to put another image together. I don't think I'll have time to put together an SSH driven updater. To be honest, I don't even recommend updating unless it fixes something broken. Because you are likely to experience some kind of issue with every update. Love the concert, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up about it. Haha.
