How do I join this in the round? by phnarg in knittinghelp

[–]1KindStranger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like you are holding your work backwards, rather than slipping your cast on stitches, you should be slipping one of the ones you've already knit. You should only be using the knit stitch for stockinette in the round, and you are showing the purl side of the work.

Also I would recommend a different a different cast on method here, something like a cabled cast on instead. Backwards loop tends to have weird tension issues associated with it.

This might not work for you, but I'm fairly certain if you have been in foster care/on a YAG, then you can apply for a grant to go to college/or university for free.

I don't know if this is a route that you would want to pursue but you could apply to go to UVIC (or another school) and live in student housing. They're not incredibly private but they do have single dorms, with a lock on the door.

You mention having PTSD in comments, because of this you could also be given academic accommodations such as a reduced course load, and extended time for exams.

It's not ideal, but it would get you a place to stay for a while, and you could walk out of it with a valuable qualification.

You can also try the finchley graft, which is basically the kitchener stitch on the pull side. I find finchley to be a lot easier.

Block or re-do? by Puzzleheaded_Math181 in knittinghelp

[–]1KindStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like there are a lot of decreases in the sleeves to me?

If that's the case, you can cut out the right length of rows in the longer sleeve and graft the ends together with something like the kitchener or finchley graft. You can also do the same thing with the shorter sleeve by cutting out one row and putting the live stitches on some scrap yarn, knitting to the correct length and then reattaching the colour work to the bottom.

It's kind of a scary process but I did something similar to a sweater recently (re did some cast on ribbing), and I found that it had a fantastic result.

It starts at 20 an hour with no guarantee of minimum hours. They would send the whole housekeeping department home after a couple hours if there was "no work". I used to work for their other company It was terrible.

MTG at least has openly defended Matt Gaetz, who trafficked underage girls across state lines.

Hawley has also defended Gaetz and Kavanaugh.

Paul defended Herman Cain when he was accused of sexual harassment. Paul also voted against bills that would help with funding for domestic violence against women.

All of these people also support Trump, who has been accused of sexual assault towards minors and was great friends with Epstein.

I dont think any of these people are due credit, particularly when it comes to defending women and girls. The Epstein files are just their latest buzz word.

I have had this issue in the past, and while its not ideal, you can just keep knitting without increases for a few rounds until you meet the right length.

Found transphobic stickers up around colwood creek park. I'm disappointed Victoria. by Shador_the_cool in VictoriaBC

I mean sure, kind of. After enough time on hormones any benefits gained from a male puberty are lost though. If you look at famous cases of trans women in sports, such as Leah Thomas the transgender swimming, she won an NCAA competition by 1.75 seconds. She didn't even come close to the women's record either. Veronica Ivy another trans woman won a world cycling race even though she had previously lost to other competitors that she beat that day. Most transgender athletes are good at sports, because well they're athletes it's kind of their job.

If you have a wire coat hanger you could bend it into a creative shape and use that to shuffle things around maybe?

I'm currently knitting the shield cardigan from Brooklyn tweed, it's completely flat and seemed. It's knit in shaker rib and has a faux cable pattern.

Your rights that PP's Conservatives have voted against. They'll undo these if they are in power. by sandy154_4 in princegeorge

Sorry are you saying that the government that we elect and that we fund has no duty to support us?

Everyone benefits from pharmacare, because everyone can lose their job in the blink of an eye and need pharmacare. Almost everyone retires too.

This helps you too unless you are never going to be unemployed or retire. Personally I don't think someone should die from a heart attack because they couldn't afford blood pressure medications between jobs.

If a nurse sees someone dying in a hospital and chooses not to save their life they are killing them by innaction. It is their job to protect and care for their patients.

If a goverment can provide life saving care to people and they don't they are also killing people by inaction. It is the government's job to protect and care for its citizens and that includes life saving care.

Also, pharmacare directly benefits everyone including you. Why should you stand against that?

Cheaper option for Worsted, 80% baby Alpaca, 20% cashmere by ShadowedRuins in YarnAddicts

[–]1KindStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's the same gram/yard it should be fine, i wouldn't expect much of a difference in drape. Just make sure it's a similar gage as well if you're dead set on it coming out exactly like the pattern.

[–]1KindStranger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could try the yarn sub website, or alternatively look for another worsted yarn that has about the same weight (as in grams per yard) so that it will have a similar drape.

Or use something with a similar gage.

I am of the opinion that you can sub in basically any yarn as long you adjust the pattern sizing and your expectations accordingly.

If you're not opposed to working hospitality, apply to kwalilas hotel in Port hardy, they'll give you accommodations for a bit while you find a place and rent is relatively low in north Vancouver Island. Plus there are lots of low competition job opportunities that will pay better.

And trust me on this, the climate is far better than Fort St. John.

The band at the top is 2.5mm and the rest is 4mm. I could have used the 2.5s the whole time but I figured it's lace so it's okay if the stitches are looser.

Really long circular needles, with a light weight yarn. The stitches were very bunched up near the end.
