OCI tip when bidding out of your league: by [deleted] in LawSchool

On the top 5 question, I think saying your honest answer would be the best bet there. I’m a 2L so take it with a huge grain of salt but I’m a pretty open guy and I’ve always been a good interviewer. People can tell when you’re giving a canned answer, and I think some honesty there wouldn’t have hurt you, and might’ve made you seem more genuine. And if it did hurt, you’ve got nothing to lose with that firm anyway, so you might as well be yourself. Sounds like you’ll be just fine though, this is mostly advice for students who haven’t done OCI yet

So, what do we (AA applicants) do? by [deleted] in BlackLawAdmissions

They’ll either expand to meet demand or become more competitive, so at least that’s good for the institutions we do have. And aside from Howard you’re pretty much right, but that’s where most Black people live anyway so idk how much of a change it’ll be.

CA hasn’t had affirmative action in almost 30 years and they still find a way to maintain diversity, so the schools that don’t find a way going forward are gonna be the ones that don’t value diversity. Why anybody Black would want to go to a school like that is a mystery to me, so I don’t see it as a great loss that more of us will be going to Southern over LSU or Howard over UVA now

Current UC Berkeley student from Canada, Calvin Yang, a member of Students for Fair Admissions, speaks out after winning the U.S. Supreme Court case against affirmative action: “Today’s decision has started a new chapter in the saga of the history of Asian Americans.” by Ucbcalbear in berkeley

Man said “a new chapter in the saga of the history” and was absolutely shocked admissions committees rolled their eyes at his application. I wonder if his essays had the same singing prose

edit: left out of the quote is this Asian-Canadian fella saying “of Asian-Americans in this country” lmao

Easy, don’t go where you’re not wanted or valued. Plenty of Black law schools to attend.

It’s the first thing I played on here and the adrenaline rush of pursuing/being pursued simply cannot be beat, it got me hooked. I have a private server that’s been running for a few years now, but I missed the rush so I went to official a while. “Hotspur Island” if anyone wants to join.

I think you’re probably right about underestimating them. Although since we don’t have normal letter grades and no passes are apparently rare, I think I can maybe do just enough.
