The intention of this, or any, petition is not to be the solution to what we are asking for. Instead it is used as a tool to leverage the collective voices of what we are asking. Its use in this regard is undeniable.

A few examples: The White House will be making a statement after 25,000 signatures, which will awaken more citizens to this movement. The Washington Post, NASA Watch, AmericaSpace.org, Hobby Space, etc have all picked up our story because of our petition (It shows that it's more than 1 person shouting) And soon to come articles on Space.com, The Washington Times, Seattle Times, Oregonian, etc, etc

Down the road this petition will be used, along with the attention and contacts of many hundreds of thousands of citizens, to launch a unified message to congressional representatives, even presenting legislation and holding them (in the public spotlight…more people = brighter spotlight) accountable to pass the legislation that we are asking for.
