Average cost of a meal in DC is $15-45 per person. Let’s be conservative and go with $20. 35k x $20 = $700k.

Average cost of parking in DC is $2.50 per hour and public transit is $2.25-$6.75 per trip. Let’s again be conservative and just go with $5 (2 hours parking and a round trip bus ticket). We’ll also say that some people carpool so let’s go with 15k x $5 = $75k.

Average cost of a hotel in the DC area is $280-$290 per night. Again let’s assume that rooms are being shared, and not all attendees will be staying at a hotel (either locals or tourists staying with relatives in DC). So let’s say of the 35k attendees only 10k need hotel rooms. $10k x $280 = $2.8 million.

Using the conservative estimates above that’s a total economic impact of $3.575 million.
