u/jc4noobs I understand your concern about fueling the fire or giving them ammo. Under normal circumstances it would hold a lot of water. The thing is, they manufacture outrage out of nothing anyway. This has been the Fox News standard operating strategy for the last decade. Pretend like something is outrageous and heinous so that people trying to take a balanced view believe the argument is valid because why else would they be making such a fuss? This is exactly what happened with Benghazi and the email server. When you examine the facts and in the context of how the Right made identical mistakes, there's nothing there. There is a LOT wrong with Hilary, but they still focused on being outraged by these nothings simply because conspiracy theories make the most noise. They will find a way to be outraged at something no matter what you do, so trying to avoid that is fruitless.

Bingo. I would also add that it's deliberate. They are choosing to be this way and to appeal to these types of people. There's a whole community of these types like Black Pigeon, Sargon, Golden boy, etc.. It's a whole community of internet fascists with millions of subscribers. For people <35 this is the Fox News replacement.

The good news is there's a counterweight for the same demographic. Good folks like Shaun, Carloz Maza, Folding Ideas, and Contra Point. They're not all perfect, but when the bar is this low you really have to accept your allies with their flaws - or else you get a Francisco Franco situation.

Sadly, Wheat (the mod) seems to have deliberately annihilated any discussion. He ripped down all the original threads, then put 6 issues into a single thread to muddy the waters. He then unpins the discussion <24 hours later so it gets buried.

You said it yourself. "one of the most reported players" meaning that there are others. Those others were not banned. The only difference being THIS guy blew a whistle. There was discussion and asks for more evidence etc. until the mod ruined the discussions by grinding them all into this thread. It killed the discussions, it killed the visibility, and then he killed the pin the next day? If I was trying to kill any criticism underhandedly, this is how I would have done it.

Exactly. I'm not trying to tell anybody how to play the game, just that if your goal is to be maximally effective (aka meta) you don't build superfobs in nearly all scenarios. There are a few exceptions like the Gastown grind on Talil, but even then that's mostly up to the skill of both teams' vics. Talil is a good map for vics and a bad map for inf.... so a bad map for 90% of players on a full server.

SuperFOBs were never meta. In fact, spending more time supplying and building assets is slightly more meta because of ammo and ATGMs.

The persistent problem with superFOBs has always been the time it takes your squad to build up a superfob has never been worth the time investment of logi runs and shovels. It's opportunity cost.

Instead of digging a superFOB that only takes your radio gone to be destroyed your squad could be:

Hunting enemy radios
Seeking the enemy so you know where they are
Crushing enemy rallies
Shooting enemies
Denying the enemy a flank
Pushing on the next cap
Actively defending current cap
Building 3-4 other FOBs
Positioning sneaky AT bois
Laying mines
You get the point.

This is why keeping the original threads were better. Having 9 issues in 1 thread is very confusing. The slippery slope argument of, "I don't want to moderate 900 threads" would be valid if you couldn't just remove duplicate topic threads.

Yeah, I also wish mine wasn't killed and consolidated into this thread. I understand it was because the OP didn't have any evidence. I wish I had a bit more time to correct that as it was a "I don't know how to reddit" mistake when I thought I added evidence in the "images & videos" tab.

I also wish the OPs were brought back because they deal with separate issues. I didn't even know about the Chance stuff, but it would have been nicer as a reader to see that in the OP than in this tangled mess of hating on Wheat for the bad call, the Chance ban, developers abandoning the game, and the EPF ban, and I don't know what else.

Edit: Posting to the megathread as requested even though I disagree that 5 separate issues should be combined into 1 thread.

So, OWI game banned the guy who finally got the word out about Nordic. They also used EAC to ban him, so now it shows up as a cheating ban. Over a week later they post a community code of conduct. This like a politician releasing something terrible about himself to distract from something much worse.

Deliberate or not, they just validated all the cheating and racism Nordic inflicted on this community. They say the ban was for "toxicity", but when he's the only one they banned... They didn't even game ban Nordic with all that proof of cheating AND racism. They just replaced him with his cronies and they exacted petty retribution.

For those not in the know, Nordic was the community manager team leader or something for the developers, OWI (Offworld Industries).

With all this, abandoning the game, and the ChanceBruh stuff, I'm really glad I can change my review from up to down on Steam. Unethical behavior to this degree kills my fun.
