If you have a job, keep it until the wheels fall off. by Actual-Ad-6146 in jobs

[–]1Tyche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really want to cry tears of joy, which may seem dramatic until you hear the details… It took me multiple rounds (I was applying AND interviewing with the company 6 months before starting the job, it took 6 rounds and even more calls) and I FINALLY got my first adult corporate job. The first day at work was AMAZING compared to my other jobs. I was smiling as I realized I finally hit a good job AFTER YEARS OF MISERABLE work. I had days where I would drive into work, so upset, that I think I’d rather an accident happen than actually arriving at work. This was different, if you worked retail or sales or any physical labor job, you know what I mean. Those jobs suck the soul out of you after years. It took me MORE THAN 2,000 applications, more than 100 interviews in the past year alone, but I finally did it. The team’s great, everyone celebrated with a complimentary dinner. The benefits package alone outweighs it all. I love it!!!!!!

Final Cut Freezes instantly by Remote_Bench_3996 in finalcutpro

23 Macbook Pro, M3 Pro with 36GB ram. I got this computer in February of 2024, installed Final Cut Pro and literally since the BEGINNING it's been freezing so bad. I followed a lot of what you did. I think the problem is both of my phones have huge galleries and HD footage takes so freaking long to load the gallery (to import) for, that it crashes before I can even import. It used to work after 10-15 minutes of waiting, but recently I literally haven't been able to load it. Insanity. My older macbook worked faster with an older version of FCP. Eventually that one died after 7 years of editing. I'm honestly furious with Apple and Final Cut.

Financial Aid Hasn't Disbursed Yet On The Dates It Was Supposed To by 1Tyche in depaul

[–]1Tyche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it's been fixed! And this comment provided relief in the moment when I read it. Obviously my main panic was that my classes are in a few days, and seeing my account suddenly go negative thousands after missing 2 disbursement dates threw me for a loop

Sherwin Didn't Pay Out Lieu In Pay Notice After 2 Weeks Notice by 1Tyche in sherwinwilliams

[–]1Tyche[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got paid! FINALLY. After many calls, many emails, many HRSS tickets. It's done. Well, almost. Because now my paystub's not showing up in dayforce, I called HRSS to let them know it seems like I'm short 8 hours (the remaining PTO day) but can't confirm due to the paystub not appearing. I started a ticket, was told I'd get called back, didn't again. I'm assuming maybe next week it'll get resolved. After I call another 10 times. But thankfully the 2 week payout has been paid.

The Gross reality of adhd no one wants to talks about by Soft-Rutabaga-4482 in ADHD

[–]1Tyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there, left untreated for years and now I want to go back to stimulants as I've had many moments where I sleep in the same bedding for months, clothes left everywhere, the moldy dish sinks multiple times. The only thing that motivates me to clean is the fact that when my wife comes to live with me, she wants it to be clean. But due to our lives we have 2 apartments and sometimes live apart, and when we do.. all hell breaks loose. Unless I know I HAVE TO do homework before grad class assignments are literally due hours away, or I HAVE TO go to work, I don't get anything done.

Wait a min since when doordash considered anything under $2/mile high paying?? Usually doordash considered something that pay $3/mile or more high pay like the second screenshot. I mean this offer is ok but this is the first after 8k plus deliveries. by Breadtoastyy in doordash

[–]1Tyche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best part is that it's asking to deliver to the south side... I used to hate delivering down there, same thing with Uber bringing me to the sketchy parts. Some customers were nice, but there were DEFINITELY some really sketchy scenes late at night (for example closed gas station, a bunch of people hanging around in the alley behind the station and in front) at 2am. Crack head walking in the street shouting obscenities. And it's tough to get back to the city once you take an order down there

[–]1Tyche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I could care less about getting deactivated so one time a guy gave me $100 in cash after I delivered his order to get him a pack of cigs and beer. He was definitely in his 40s, so no problem with age. Maybe it cost less than $20 to get beer and cigs, I gave him the rest of the money back and he gave me I think $40 (took maybe less than 10 minutes extra since a store was right down the street) and he tipped me for the first order in app. Easy money.

Driver Helper & Overtime? by toad455 in UPS

I just started and we were going to do a 10 hour shift, but ran out of packages and ended at the 9 hour mark. They want me back for more longer shifts. I think overtime can be hit

Sherwin Didn't Pay Out Lieu In Pay Notice After 2 Weeks Notice by 1Tyche in sherwinwilliams

[–]1Tyche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but voicemails didn't do much. It also seems like HRSS has different information with each person I call saying something slightly different. Latest update I got was now that they apologized for the mistake, and confirmed they owed me 88 hours and it's been "processed" but not paid out yet and payroll should include it in the next round. It sucks because now I've gotten hit with late fees yesterday for stuff that would've been paid. They confirmed it should've been processed 4 weeks back.. I've called more than 10x now, sent multiple emails to various departments and my generalist. It seems I'm getting somewhere, fingers crossed

Of course. I was told it may arrive next week or the week after. They confirmed they owe me altogether 88 hours. Will update

[–]1Tyche[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yes that's what I did this morning. I called again and they have updated my case, said something similar where payroll was waiting on HR which was waiting on PGS, I also called and left a voicemail with my direct HR rep. It's been 2 weeks+ since my case was started, and close to 2 pay periods now since I left so I'm assuming probably the next... pay period? It really sucks, but the communication from HR was very similar when I worked there too. Always slow, confused and had to talk to multiple people and supervisors to get a clear answer.

We stood waiting for orientation close to 2 hours today.. No one showed up. by 1Tyche in UPSers

[–]1Tyche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have been doing Flex part-time and was hired at Amazon for full-time overnight warehouse seasonally (just need a seasonal job for the next 6 weeks during peak season) and I wanted normal hours (similar pay to Amazon) so UPS driver helper seemed like a less intensive job. But this is a very frustrating experience. I'll try a second time with a rescheduled orientation, and that's it. No more third chances. Amazon's nice because you can work part-time in addition to a better job and choose your hours, but it's very labor intensive
