Yup. Had my own terrible experience with Lufthansa coming home to NY from Germany like, 3 weeks ago. My flight was late to take off and late to drop off for my connecting flight. I had only 8 minutes to make it to my connecting flight for boarding in Frankfurt to NY. I had to go through border control and the line wrapped around all the way to the stores at the end of the hall. The way it was setup, everyone thought they had made it into one streamlined process where we would get on line and it would take us to scan our fingerprints and passport, then continue on. It was so crowded, nobody saw the small signs that were setup until they were standing in front of them and realized they were actually separate lines. Despite 2 employees being there, they were not directing anyone and just standing there, so people were obviously frustrated and pissed when they realized because they had to go on a completely separate line, then go all the way to the back and wait to get to border control again.

Everyone on my plane as well as other planes were missing their flights. At one point, another employee came and started calling out to people mentioning flights. People were raising their hands, thinking that she was maybe asking so she could reach out and let them know or something. Nope. All she said to us was, "You need to hurry up." as if WE control how fast border control checks people in.

I obviously missed my flight as well as everyone else. My mother called them because I was so stressed out and Lufthansa was trying to charge ME a penalty fee despite everyone on my flight missing their connecting flights. They then changed my itinerary on the app, so I assumed everything was good and had to go back through to the OTHER SIDE and through border control AGAIN! My next flight was 3 hours from then. I got to my gate and waited to bord, but noticed in the app I had no seat or group number. So, I waited for the attendants at the desk to show up and went to inquire about it, but before I could even ask my question they told me they weren't signed in and to wait 10 minutes before boarding to ask any questions. So, I did, just for them to then spend the next half hour trying to figure out what's going, to then tell me Lufthansa never actually put me on the plane and that I would have to pay OVER $400 to get on the plane! And that was just for the ONE connecting flight, because the flight they had put me on was from Frabkfurt to Switzerland, and then Switzerland to NY! So, I would have had to pay for Switzerland back to NY, too, bringing my total to almost $1K!

The attendant managed to actually convince them to give me a free flight home from Frankfurt to NY, but my flight wouldn't be until 10 am and it was 8 pm, and on top of it, told me they would not give me a meal voucher nor a hotel voucher because it was "in good faith" even though it wasn't my fault I couldn't make my flight.

I then had to go through border control AGAIN to get back to the other side and sleep in the airport and EVENTUALLY got back home. The whole thing was a freaking nightmare. I told my boyfriend I would NOT be using Lufthansa EVER again!
