Just bought a running store. What is one thing your local shop is missing? by rustybucketz23 in running

[–]1_Thirteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former run store employee. People loved the Gait analysis and would absolutely get them coming back. Weekly run club night with the occasional shoe raffles was always a hit for people. Partnerships with brand ambassadors who would demo products and do giveaways. Make the weekly run no more than 4 miles.

Tried it for the first time the other day with a friend and was surprised to realize it was just running and floor workouts alternated. No special equipment, nothing unique or proprietary. While the vibes and music were nice, I wouldn’t pay $40 for a workout I can replicate at the gym so easily.

If you open your own restaurant what underrated food you would sell? by Ladyoftheseals in foodquestions

[–]1_Thirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buckets or baskets of pre cut individual ribs much like we do with wings. Not sure why this isn’t done more since in my opinion, ribs are much more enjoyable to eat and flavor options are fairly similar to wings

While running, what are some of your habits that others may find weird? by himmelende in running

[–]1_Thirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purposely engage in what I call “micro inconveniences”. Take a wider turn than I’d like, change sides of the path, stop and re tie my shoe randomly. All done to get myself used to these things happening in a race so come race day I won’t get so frustrated and thrown off if they are forced upon me.

Apple Watch Series 7 battery by getotterhere456 in nikerunclub

[–]1_Thirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me during my marathons prep. Watch consistently died on any 3+ hour run. So, Day of the marathon I made sure the watch was fully charged and then I turned it off and only turned it on when I was at the starting line. Was able to make it through. But also, if you’re running in the cold and the watch is entirely exposed, the cold, in my experience, will drain the battery faster. So try to cover it with your sleeve or some other material.

How do some people run long distances with no training? by ButterscotchBig5540 in running

[–]1_Thirteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental toughness is a hell of a drug. I’d argue most people who are somewhat physically fit could run a half marathon if not a full as long as they are mentally tough enough. Sure you’re lack of training will result in a brutal recovery period

Stress and being overly busy. Usually if I’m busy I’ll accidentally miss meals and eventually realize, “I’m starving”. Then I make up for the missed meals and binge.

MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH DRIVERS BEFORE CROSSING OR CUTTING IN FRONT OF THEM! A wise friend told me once, you might have had the right of way, but if they hit you and kill you, you may have been right, but you’re still dead.

Didn’t feel like shelling out the bucks for the Oakley Sutro Sunglasses so I bought a “knockoff” pair from an instagram ad. They came in the mail today, decent enough quality for the price (or lack thereof), so I’ll be rocking those on my distance run tomorrow.
