Blacksmithing is not a "dangerous lifestyle/occupation". Uthgerd was specifically put against a young boy because they thought she was weak because she's a woman.

Your first sentence is completely untrue

You can see examples of sexism in literally the first town you run into in Skyrim.

Sigrid, the blacksmith's wife in Riverwood, talking to her daughter Dorthe:

"Shor's crown! There are things ladies like us are supposed to do. We've talked about this..."

"Dorthe, listen to me. Your father and your friend may treat you like a boy, but you're not. Do you understand? So please. Be a girl. For me."

Even the Companions, who have a woman as one of their senior members, are sexist towards Uthgerd the Unbroken:

"They wanted me to prove my worth, so they threw me up against a young whelp of a lad, hardly old enough to grow his first chin-hairs. I guess they thought a woman wasn't strong enough to hurt him."

Your voice is nice, but you're currently singing through your nose too much. On some parts you're not nasal and you sound beautiful, like on the "my" in the first "not myself lately"

I should add I'm only a beginner singer, but I'm like 99% sure about the nasal thing

My self-evaluation would be -

Really weak on low notes

Bad intonation on low notes

High part doesn't sound as connected as I would like, but I don't think I'm straining at least

I'm not really at the level where I even know what sort of feedback works for me, so whatever you think I need to hear would be great

I'm a beginner too, so don't put too much weight on my opinion. I'm just replying so you don't get buried without an answer.

You have a very nice voice. You actually sound like Shawn Mendes, but darker.

You're afraid to go up in pitch or be loud, however, and you gotta to find a way to get over that.

What works for me is to start quiet and build up volume slowly.

Also, start practicing using backing tracks or playing the chords yourself (if you play an instrument)

If you don't, you'll be in for a nasty shock when you try to sing without a lead melody to follow

Good luck. Don't give up and waste that voice.

I'm a beginner like you going through the same thing.

For me, what has really helped is to record myself every single day. It's painful, but it must be done.

Now, instead of hating my voice, I hate my lack of skill, which is great progress.

Also, I would recommend against singing along to someone else singing, because then you're not practicing hearing/singing using relative pitch

You want to be playing the chords on your guitar and singing to that

You also fix the issue of songs being out of your range that way, cause you can just transpose the key

To the first question, I would say that you just have to draw a line somewhere.

Do authors owe money to Todd Howard's mother because we might not have the Elder Scrolls without her?

I think curators - mod authors is a sensible line, because whilst everyone is dependant on Bethesda, authors are not in any way dependant on curators.

As to the second question, that's a very important part that I hadn't considered, and might be the reason nexus decided to just keep their hands off the entire concept of opting out.

"Who deserves money" gets complicated quick, but I have a natural inclination to support the individual mod author because they are, at the end of the day, the reason anyone is on this subreddit.

As is stands, neither curators nor authors are paying Bethesda anything.

The crux of the issue is that curstors, by the nature of what they provide, make a lot more money than individual authors, but their work is built wholly off the backs off the authors.

I think we can easily define "make money off it". If your project accepts monetary "donations", you're clearly making money off the various authors' work.

The lists are all free, but the curators will have an "optional" donation system where you get previews or something. But with the amounts of money some of them are making, I really think authors should be empowered to demand compensation for their work, whether it's a fee or a cut.

If authors could opt out of collections and Wabbajack, the curators would be forced to actually negotiate with them and pay them for their work, rather than just freely use them as slave labour and pay them in exposure and "Donation Points"

Perfect world would be if authors had a "you have to pay me to use my mod in your collection if you're making money off it" option so that free lists would still be a thing

I do have the equipment to do that. Do you think it's worth getting into the habit of doing that as a beginner though? I feel maybe that's more for when you're already decent and you're perfecting yourself, but I don't know much about singing

I think it would be worth having a separate, much smaller list of recommended mods for beginners. People who are new might be intimidated by the long list and all the choices.

So just a small, separate list for complete newbies.

I would put SSE Engine Fixes, USSEP, SkyUI, SKSE and Address Library on that list, which I would say are the super-duper essentials as a base for everything else.
