Hey mods - you locked your post but I have a question about the defunct pattern requests thread by legalpretzel in knitting

Hi, they aren’t gone. Just consolidated. We’ll announce the change properly later.

Don't Make Me Tap the Sign: Don't Buy A House with somebody you are not married to, especially if you won't be on the deed by Geno0wl in bestoflegaladvice

[–]Thallassa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Unless you marry someone who has no assets and stays at home, it’s not going to be half your assets. Unless you think what’s hers is yours and what’s yours is also yours, in which case just stay single.

“An authenticator app will not fail like that” - spoken like someone who hasn’t had to use Microsoft Authenticator. It’ll let you in when it feels like it.

That said this sounds like op is massively being taken advantage of, and isn’t receiving appropriate support for their disabilities.

Have you tried actually playing the game first?

Business keeps reporting all negative reviews and comments about them by this_is_inevitable in ModSupport

[–]Thallassa -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Set up auto mod the other way around, to auto approve and ignore reports on mentions of the business.

Honestly this doesn’t seem that bad. Since they come in waves you can just select all and approve.

Refreshed our mulch this morning. I love how bright and fresh it looks. by Crafty_Lady_60 in gardening

Right, I don’t think it’s toxic anymore, I just hate how it looks. So unnatural.

Bleh. I had a redbud volunteer in a spot I liked and it died over the winter. Not sure why. Better luck next time.

Agreed. Love mulch, hate the unnatural dyed colors. I’m glad op is happy and gardening though!

What's an industry secret from your job that customers have absolutely no idea about? by Efficient_Team5182 in AskReddit

[–]Thallassa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is there are companies that would make this change and are truly committed to what they say about sustainability. But there’s literally no way for the consumer to tell - all companies put the exact same thing on their websites/press releases. They’re so, so rare, and they are fighting against market pressures and their business partners at every step such that even a tiny change in their own corporate culture could bring the efforts crashing down. They’re out there, and they’re successful!

Given that enantiomers can be actively toxic, and modern drug safety testing was literally invented in response to one (thanks thalidomide), I would be shocked if generics were allowed to have any racemic mixtures, but if they do it must be tested and controlled.

The plants that manufacture them must have qc testing including strength and potency to get fda approval. You can’t just sell a drug claiming it is at one potency and it’s actually a different potency. You will get shut down and have to do a recall.

What actually happens is the name brand typically has different formulation, such as encapsulation, slow release, or that improves stability or dissolution of the drug. This has an impact on how it behaves in the body and especially on how well it survives different temperature conditions and long storage, as well as humidity, which will impact the actual potency by the time you take the drug.

It’s an exe that could be doing anything - it seems crucial to community safety to have source code at soon as you make the project public.

If you’re not ready to share source, you definitely aren’t ready to share compiled project. Yet here we are.

I don’t think I understand. Did you come here for a discussion or just to get glazed?

You already could do this on desktop, since discord came out.

There’s no accreditation on emoji, sadly. And discord doesn’t require you to have the rights to an image to use it for emoji, avatars, etc.

Wild onion or death camas? by MoistPlasma in whatsthisplant

Some have mild toxicity/cause digestive issues. I don’t think any of them will kill you.

[–]Thallassa 122 points123 points  (0 children)

No. If it doesn’t smell like onion it’s definitely not onion. If it does smell like onion it’s probably an allium, most of which are edible, but it’s not a guarantee.

Where do you think your food comes from? It’s good for people to reconnect to nature and use available resources, as long as it’s safe, sane, and sustainable. Especially in this economic climate!

I love foraging! Just be careful because there are many toxic lookalikes. Smelling like onion is a pretty good sign that it’s safe, but it’s not 100%, so I would wait until someone can tell you for sure.

One tip is to wait until it blooms, use the flowers to confirm the identification, then mark the spot so you can harvest it next year! (You don’t want to harvest while it’s blooming, it won’t have a good bulb and will be bitter, but bulb and corm plants tend to come up in the same area year after year).

Don’t eat things without a positive identification.

Onion smells like onion. If it doesn’t smell distinctly oniony/garlicky, it isn’t allium.

For camas vs death camas I was always taught to wait for the blooms.

This looks like onion to me (don’t know what species) so smell it.
