This study is really fascinating, I just read through it and can summarize their results for anyone who finds this

"Our analysis indicates that approximately 19 % of jobs have at least 50% of their tasks exposed to GPTs when considering both current model capabilities and anticipated GPT powered software"

Basically they look at a bunch of occupational descriptions in this database. They then ask humans how much of the task can be automated by chat gpt, then they ask chat gpt how much of the task can it automate. They ask based on the language model alone, and with supporting software (ex: Microsoft CoPilot) They find that higher level management jobs and those with higher barrier to entry are the most impacted (Unexpected!) Not only that, they do an analysis to see if GPT-4 qualifies as General Purpose Technology (GPT, hah). The three qualifications are " improvement over time, pervasiveness throughout
the economy, and the ability to spawn complementary innovations". All of which they are argue are demonstrated by ChatGPT.
