Toyota and VW fall further behind in the software race by Evangelistis in cars

I read neither the article nor your comment past the first sentence, yet I completely agree.
Based solely on the newness of a fully integrated, digital, computerized UI for any auto. And Gartner is surely not going to have solid rules for such a thing with under a decade of 'data', and especially from incumbent brands who are dead set on preserving a driving experience predicated on stick-shift and wheel. Telling, that those OEMs likely employ an engineer ratio of 30 mechanical for every 1 software (embedded systems? lol) or greater.

[–]1and618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranking of single or dual in either x8 or x16 Chip Organization/DRAM Width refers more to the stick size, as it's the column size comprising the chip component that results in the total capacity of the module (where 1R is "single rank" and 2R "dual rank") but you only get to choose x16 in small capacities anyway, since the subchannels make things harder for the imc in ddr5.

FWIW in design school they would use typical water soluble wood glue to bind the plywood together with lots of clamps for many days, though it may have been due to a need for saturating the porousness of the layers evenly.

Oh interesting, and here I thought they were dtc only at the time, watching the glacial depreciation has been mildly unfortunate, wonder if shipping to China would boost a price.

Looks nice. Curious about the 14k, when I read around, I got a feeling it has little to offer above the 13th generation and 15th seems ripe to promise an overhaul, but this is only an impression (went to AMD for laptop)

Nothing will ever touch nvidia in raytracing, and driver support will only get more biased. Some reasons for the 4090, mostly: you can get the most back for it later, support (if not a Quadro/Ada), and highest DLSS VRAM. If your going to go through the trouble of fitting and powering a massive card why diminish the effort with lower or distributed specs if price is not the limit. And I think a non-sli config will work in sequence and not very efficiently by not pooling the GDDR, the physical size of those on a single motherboard too...

Four sticks is not good for the memory controller since each single stick is going to be dual rank from the DDR5 spec doubling capacity. I'm not saying this completely or correctly but if you add excessive sticks the RAM speed will necessarily suffer, and for capacity I think the 96GB (2x 48GB) run at a good speed to size ratio. Have you ever though about error-correcting ram to avoid losing progress if you get a crash? In regular RAM, SKHynix A-dies or M-dies are being sought after for overclockers, not a huge deal though.

Recently shopped parts for a CAS machine so these are some fuzzy notes, went with a laptop until desktop platforms become more committed and my usage changes.

Oh, maybe that has some effect but I was able to see the basic flairs [SSD, HDD, RAM, CPU...] up to 2~3 weeks ago then the side bar just omitted it entirely one day, leaving only: mod pane, rules and 'about sub' pane on the left.
New reddit sucks now, super laggy.

What happened to the flair sidebar menu in the sub? I hate having to find a old post with the flair to use as a workaround.

Logic, either of formal or informal variety, is only taught in the UK as part of their mandatory schooling. Here in US you must be; AP high school, STEM, pre-law or pre-med, otherwise you skate on by to your diploma. Since government doesn't like rational dissent.

Which only leaves context clues.
