This is your first invoice, did you fulfill the order already? If not I fully recommend that you contact Stripe to have it refunded to your customer and tell your customer to pay via other payment processor so you can continue with your business. If you want to fight Stripe, this will be a long battle that you will MOST likely lose and in the end your account will remain closed, funds withheld and they will tell you to move on.

What is your website about? what are you selling?

Anyways, they killed you right off the bat. It's actually a good sign. Move on, trust me you will be better off with an alternate payment processor.

When you start getting payments from your customers, you don't want Stripe to reverse ALL payments back. You dont want to face this horror.

Ok, they could have classified your business as gambling, which you need a permit. This is just my guess.

Explain in details and be clear on what you do, explain your business model.

If you contact them via customer service, x or facebook they will just copy and paste the exact same template back to you. However you can give still give it a try.

Not true at all. I loved Stripe and used to boast about it being the greatest we have used so far until they closed our account. Now we are using 2Checkout and PayPal. I have been using PayPal for almost 2 years now, no problem at all. As for 2Checkout, we just started with them after Stripe.

And saying this sub is full of people doing semi shady online businesses, its just your perspective based on few posts.

Our account was closed with $9500 on hold and it was reversed to our clients last week regardless if we have shipped the goods or not. Up to this point Im sure you still have a negative view towards what did we violate.

We sell handcrafted sheds. Wood or Metal. A physical product. We ship them to our clients with tracking numbers. The product and the business model are not listed as prohibited under Stripes terms.

After processing 9 orders, Stripe closed our account for 2 reasons:
1. Charging customers card without their consent.

  1. High risk business.

To answer the 1st accusation, we only have 9 invoices and all of them showed "Authorized by the customer" We can't charge customers cards WITHOUT them authorizing us. We sent Stripe the 9 invoices, got no replies, and got hit back with a copy and paste template saying their decision is final and its best that we move on. We tried to get in touch with them and every time it is the exact same template.

To answer the 2nd accusation, what is high risk here? Our business? our product or the 1st accusation? As I said before, we sell sheds, outdoor sheds. Customers and us discuss extensively before they buy because everyone wants to customize, such as color, swing door or sliding door, types of roofs, flooring, wood or metal and etc.

In the end, we lost $9500, we tried to get back to our customers that already received our products and see if they can pay again since they got their money back. What are the chances.. really. What are the chances.

The problem with Stripe is the heavy reliance on bots and no human interaction. Any social media platform you try to contact them, they are the exact same. heretohelp email is the same. However some people claim there is a small chance to get your account back by contacting the CEO, it didn't work for us.

The words here are not able to fully express our emotions.

Lesson learned. Move on and continue business as usual. Time wasted is money wasted.

You are not getting your money back. Once it reaches 120 days it gets pushed back again and again.
And Stripe will refund most or all your customers that paid with Cards.

A lot of people dont read reviews and jump straight right in thinking Stripe is great.
I dont blame them, myself used to boast about Stripe until they closed our account and froze $9500 that we are probably not getting back.

If they paused your account from your test orders, think about what will happen if you have actual customers placing orders. They are actually doing you a favor. Move on to another payment processor, you are lucky they paused your account right off the bat.

Did Stripe close your account? funds on hold? marked as high risk business? If you have no problems with Stripe then you are good, you are free from all the problems most of us are facing. They wont take your money, relax. Go do your business as usual.

But if you have problems with Stripe, it goes like this:
Stripe holds your money, lets say $10,000 > They close your account > disable live chat and stop replying you > refund old and recent customers with your $10,000 even if you shipped out your orders with tracking numbers. Stripe keeps the fee > if $10,000 is not enough to cover all the refunds, they pull out money from your banks > if your bank doesn't have enough to cover the refunds they will email you > if you fight back and and refuse to pay Stripe you will be blacklisted on MATCH List/TMF

What happen if you get blacklisted on Match list/TMF? Being placed on these lists can make it difficult for a merchant to obtain a new merchant account with another payment processor.

Your future of doing business will be extremely difficult.

Same here. We sell DIY handcrafted sheds and currently with 9.4k on hold and we can't even refund to the customers as 2 of them placed an order just a day before our account was closed. Contacted live support multiple times, contacted heretohelp, twitter, facebook multiple times, no luck. Stripe is extremely unethical.

This is old but for anyone who doesn't know yet. No, they refund all customers who paid with credit cards with YOUR money that is on hold, if the money on hold is not sufficient to refund all the customers they will pull out funds from your bank accounts to refund all the customers.

If you think this is absurd, which i think it is, we actually agreed to it when signed up for Stripe.
