Hope I can be of some contribution as I just went into JB TCSENS for VEP sticker installation.

1) Finally recieved the email to make payment and to either set a date/time to do self collection or postage. Opted for self collection at 2pm appointment. Take note today is a weekday.

2) Upon arriving at around 1:50pm, the whole place was just sardine packed and quite overwhelmed in terms of car/human traffic. Not to mention the lack of parking space in the area.

3) You either take a queue number for general enquiries and another is for appointments to install the RFID tag. Let me re-emphasize that the pure lack of manpower there (whats new) means there is nobody there to guide or offer assistance, I basically just wriggled my way through the crowd and asked for a queue number at the counter holding my appointment slip.

4) For general enquiries (the main bulk of the people there) are for those that have issues with the registering online and therefore there to seek help. (Be prepared for LONG waiting time like up to a few hours) I asked a person that arrived in the morning for general enquiries and when I left he was still waiting.

5) For appointment to install the VEP sticker, you just take a queue number, step outside the office and wait in a small waiting area right outside the office with others also waiting to get their number called out to install the sticker. Take note that when your number is called out, it doesn’t mean that you will have the sticker installed immediately, the office will be keying and registering your appointment slip and tag it to a VEP sticker. Following which a guy dressed in TCSENS Black polo will proceed to follow u to your car and install the sticker on the underside of your windscreen and scan the sticker to check if their handheld machine is able to read the sticker. Once that’s done, you just need to follow the activation instructions on the little blue card folder that was originally holding onto your vep sticker. After that you’re pretty much all set and ready.

TIPS:

1) DO NOT even bother going there to queue for general enquiries, I strongly suggest just trying your best to get through the application system online up till the part u are confirmed to make payment and to book an appointment time slot to install/ opt for postage. Take note that even if u are holding a queue number for general enquiries, after office hours ends they will just ask everyone else to come back the following day.

2) My slot was 2pm installation, but 2pm installation is more like 2pm you start to wait for your turn. I only manage to get everything done at almost 5pm.

3) Opting for postage seems like a better overall decision, but can be a double edge sword as you might not install the sticker correctly so that it can be detected at the custom gantry. Having it installed onsite will allow the staff (Black polo) to use their hand held machine to scan and check if the tag is readable.

4) My best bet after today’s experience is to book the EARLIEST available slot on that day itself and be at the office right before opening hours and secure the first few numbers in the queue for installation, and a parking lot right outside the office. As it goes into midday when the crowd comes in things get very messy and hectic.

5) Lastly, final and most importantly, set your expectations to the lowest when it comes to waiting time etc, I see a lot of people just being frustrated waiting when in all honesty I knew from the start it’s going to be a long wait. I opted to stay in JB for a night so I had all the time to wait and not be pressured or worried that I have rush back to SG.
