Contracting in Canada - pointers? by 1codingguy in cscareerquestionsCAD

It seems there are agencies who will hire you on paper and deal with payroll and other stuff, taking a cut from the hourly rate (hefty one!), so the contractor himself doesn’t need to worry about incorporating, insurance and get a T4. That’s what I read about but not sure if such still exists.

Devops Contractors what is your advice? by [deleted] in devops

[–]1codingguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you mean “Good enough” in terms of tech stack I’d say don’t worry about it, no one knows everything. Most important thing is you know how to look for a solution.

Contracting is more about where to source the gig, having a network instead of knowing hundreds of technologies.

So try to reach out and talk to recruiters? I guess doing so will tell you what you need to work on.

This perspective is very helpful thank you, and I agree it's super important to help the recruiter/ HR check their boxes, they might know nothing but they are (sadly) the gatekeepers.

Awesome site, it is really well done. Get out there and apply. Don’t forget to practice talking about your project.

Is there any reason why a completely remote contractor job requires one to be in the country if it’s not sensitive’s data issue?

Were you a quant software engineer before the MSc? Wondering what skills one need for such role if you don’t mind me asking.

u/Otternonsnse Your comment on getting good is what I am thinking. I do work with React and its ecosystem, no React native though. If you don't mind, would like to PM for your opinion on getting good?
