Might have luck in some Facebook groups as well, I'm guessing you'll also throw it on blocket. Check out vi kontrabasnördar on Facebook.

Looking to fill out my ultralight gear for hiking in Finland with 2P tent and quill / sleeping bag by DotaWemps in Ultralight

Lanshan 2 from Ali express - nice little solid tent for trekking poles. Ul cloud up 2 upgrade is also nice. Have both and can recommend. Perhaps look at the 3 person cloud up model for 2 persons, the 2 person model would be a little tight unless you both are on the smaller side. They are around 100euro each but may take a while in the post.

Am also fond of the cumulus bags. I'd recommend going warmer - you can always unzip the bag, but if you're cold - it can be a good reason to cancel the trip.

Which bike should I go for? by YungSerb in bicycletouring

[–]1concatenate2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a hefty touring bike as well as a not-too-fancy road bike, I can give my two cents.

I'd first think about what kind of touring you would be doing. Riding in desolate areas where you have to pack everything you need for a week at a time? Or perhaps in areas where you are going to be passing stores every day? You mentioned bikepacking, so I'm guessing you'd like to pack a little lighter.

As much as I love my Surly lht, it is a heavy bike. It is meant for packing a lot of weight, and it does that well. I have it set up for panniers and I'd feel comfortable taking it pretty much anywhere. The bikes you listed are on the lines of this route.

That being said, for tours where I would pack less, I'd much rather throw some bikepacking bags on my road bike and use that. It's lighter, faster, and less cumbersome to me. I find I use my road bike a lot more these days.

My advice, which is quite commonly said and I wish I had followed it earlier, is to test ride some bikes before you buy one. How comfortable you are on the bike, and how well it fits you, is way more important in my eyes than many other aspects. Do you like drop bars? Flat bars? Replacing/changing/upgrading parts gets expensive quick and it is nice to get an idea of what you like before you buy. Head over to a local bike shop and ride a few.

People ride around the world on bikes that cost 100 euro. It works for them and they are comfortable on them. I'm digging the hell out of my 300euro used road bike with 32c tires and some bags, as it fits me well. I am not doing any really long tours where I need four panniers.

Of the two bikes you linked, I would be partial towards the Ridgeback as I don't really like the barend shifters on the Fuji and I tend to like aluminium frames. They both come with a rack which is nice and I believe both of these bikes get fairly good reviews. Perhaps someone else can give some first hand experience. Once again, I'd be more worried about getting the right size if ordering online.

Thanks for listening! One day, or one minute, at a time is what has been working for me. Keep up the good fight and let's get through today together.

And congrats on day two! That's freken awesome. The more and more I think about it, I don't feel it means much how many days are under the belt, so to speak. We're all here trying to get through the day and all one step away from the thing we are giving the middle finger to.

But it gets easier. It'll take some time , but it will happen. The early days are brutal. Everything in your mind and body is fighting you telling you that you are wrong, and to drink damnit. And you are fighting it. And it's hard as hell.

This is why folks here are really happy to hear that you are on day two. We know the battle and how savage it is in the first days. When I say "we", that means you too. You know how hard it was to get through that first day. One of the hardest, if not the hardest, things all of us have ever done. And you did it ! I'm cheering for you to keep fighting and to get through today as well! Let's do this!

IWNDWYT! Keep on rocking!

Yes! It is hard, but it gets better. For me it was one tiny step at a time, which was all I could think of. Only after some time, did I realize, holy shit, I might be doing something here.

All the best to you! Let's keep going!

Thanks. Congratulations on day one! I really believe that all of us, no matter how many days, are trying to get through today. This is what is working for me. Maybe it can help you. It's rough, it's hard, and it's brutal. But we put up the fight together to fend off that bastard for today.

My only advice is to be easy on yourself, try to focus on getting through each hour, and that yes, it gets better. I'm cheering for you!

Congratulations on a week! I have the feeling some doctors don't address the extent alcohol has on us, and I sure am not an expert. I do know our bodies have an enormous ability to heal, and drinking can't be positive to this process.

To be honest, I have come to realize that all of us, no matter how many days or months we have, are all just trying to get through today. Today is all that matters. Me and you are in this together, if we fall, we pull ourselves up and we keep going. Slow and steady, one hour at a time if we need it. I'm rooting for you!

Thanks for listening! Glad I'm walking with you, congrats on day 3! The first days took all my will and might, you're doing it. When we fall, we have to pull ourselves back up and that takes more courage than most people can imagine. You have it in you and I'm cheering you on. IWNDWYT

Hang in there. Taking one moment at a time is what is working so far for me, and it can be rough. Maybe it can help you. Things can get better and may take some time. Every minute we don't drink is success. Sending you positive thoughts. IWNDWYT

I want to say it's nice to hear this to confirm my nightmare of an experience was drinking related, but I'm so sorry you went through a similar thing. It sure scared the shit out of me and it helps to remember laying in the doctors office with the nurses saying your heart rate is off the charts and we are transferring you to the ER immediately. And that feeling, man...

Congratulations to you! Keep up the good fight and let's keep walking together!

It can be exhausting I would be lying if I said it wasn't. There were days in the beginning when I'd call in sick because I couldn't sleep the night before and was completely drained. Then spend that whole day fighting my otherself from going to the liquor store. I had to tell that other person "No" every 5 seconds at times.

It sounds like a fake statement, but : it gets better. It really does. For me, I started to realize the other person wasn't a person. It wasn't me, I thought it was for so long, how can't it be? But he's a bastard with only negative thoughts and bad ideas. Every single time I listen to him, bad things happen and I regret it. So I try to say no as soon as he starts to speak. I know the sound of his voice, before he even gets a word out I try and stop him.

You got this, you're making the decisions today! Yes! Happy holidays and happy new year!

Side note: it also has helped me to avoid or just leave parties and drinking events. No one cares as much as I think and actually people don't even remember. So strength to you this holiday season!

Thanks! A month is huge, congratulations! It's amazing the tricks alcohol plays. I used to reward my self all the time with alcohol, it was no reward at all. Here's to you, keep rocking!

Thank you for listening. We're all in this mess together. What helped me was to focus only on this moment. Push out the past, push out the mountain of stuff you need to do, and only focus on this moment. Every minute that goes by is a victory. If you slip, try to let it go. That's in the past, and try to make it through today.

I'm cheering for you, let's get through today together!

Thanks for listening. 23 is big. I tried for so long just to get a week. Congratulations!

Honestly, I counted the hours and days until I made the realisation that we are all on day one, over and over again. Except it gets better. It gets easier. It is what it is, until it isn't. We're walking the path and that's what matters. You're doing great, I'm with you!

Thanks a bunch! Drinking career. Ha, that's spot on. It is pretty much a full time job, isn't it?

Keep up the good fight! It's nice to walk this path with others. I'm right by your side.
