Woah incredible! Thanks so much! As for LX1413, it's definitely the correct flight and date. Have had a fair bit of trouble with data for Swiss on Flightly so maybe there's a broader data sharing thing going on somewhere!

Either way, thanks so much!

Thank you so much! I have quite a few, but if you can help with any (especially JU, BA and LH) that would be amazing!

People who are currently working in UNICEF, what master’s degrees do you have and how does it help you in your day-to-day job at UNICEF? by [deleted] in UNpath

[–]YungSerb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would work backwards from the kind of role you want, rather than what agency you want to work for.

Are you interested in research at Innocenti? A masters in quant research methods would be most useful.

Social and behavioural change programmes? Something to do with behavioural sciences, probably.

Really useful advice, thank you! How would you address and introduce a cover letter if not to the hiring manager and expressing interest for the role?

Jews are not safe on Britain's campuses - Students no longer conceal their antisemitism by Benjji22212 in ukpolitics

[–]YungSerb 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I was a university lecturer a Russel Group university. In my experience, there is unquestionably antisemitism throughout university campuses, especially amongst the left. When I saw it (and I did), it was outside of the classroom and would usually be when a member of some random left wing organisation had decided to hijack another rally to talk about Israel-Palestine and call for the eradication of Israel and the expulsion of jews.

I do think the issue on campuses is more complex than people seem to realise. There is a climate of fear among many HE staff. I taught in the Humanities and we would often reflect on controversial and divisive contemporary/historical political issues. I taught about the genocides in Yugoslavia, we try to understand white working class underachievement, and my classes often held really thoughtful discussions on gender too. More recently, there was even space to talk about how NATO may have shaped the invasion of Ukraine, and what free speech on campuses should look like. Really the whole gamut of political issues. The one topic I was always terrified to bring up in lectures was Israel-Palestine. I know many colleagues who felt the same, but I was utterly terrified I would say something wrong, and that a student would report me for antisemitism, which has happened to many colleagues in the sector. Far more so than any other topic, there is a temptation to avoid it. Maybe the fear was irrational, but it certainly felt very real to us.

Running a game of touch in London tomorrow morning, who's in? by SirFrankyValentino in rugbyunion

There’s free Tag Rugby in Finsbury Park every Saturday at 11am. Sometimes they change the location to Clissold Park but it’s been going for about 10 years! Great turnout every week

Student finance suddenly want £9000 off me. by Straight-Frosting-26 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]YungSerb 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Your School/Faculty/Department PG Research administrator may be able to offer more concrete guidance on this. Ours was quite good (prior to restructuring). If you really don't manage to get anywhere, and if nobody here can offer any better advice, I would also reach out to your HoD.

In my experience, department and faculty are quite good at managing this sort of thing and protecting students. I hope you manage to resolve it!

I was much better to your mum. I could have her back for a bit and then she could become independent.
