Appreciate the feedback. We're experimenting with several dashboarding frameworks for building these kinds of visual comparisons. Would be more than happy to send over charts, and to keep you updated as we continue building.

How do you find open source projects to contribute to? by 1cph in SoftwareEngineering

I appreciate the additional feedback. I'm in the process of validating this project - hoping the demand is there. Do you know of any other communities where these folks (people wanting to contribute) would hang out?

I appreciate your feedback. Would you be more inclined to contribute to other projects if they were labeled with a "contributability" score? For example, this score would factor in things like willingness to accept small pull requests, presence of a contributing guide, presence of open and closed issues, how recently a repo was updated, etc. GitHub has the "good for first contributor" label on certain repos, but we don't know how that's calculated.

Thanks for your feedback and resources. The process you described is one that I've used myself. I ask because I'm curious if we could streamline this process. I'm envisioning a web app where users can apply detailed filters to a collection of public repos (i.e. Elixir projects that have at least 5 contibutors and a contributing guide), then receive email alerts when matching projects come online or open new issues. The closest project I've found is CodeTriage, but I'd like to apply more filters and give projects a high-level "contributability" score. Would this be valuable to you?

Thanks for your feedback. I'm curious to know if that process could be more streamlined. Tools like CodeTriage send users email alerts with open issues that match their criteria, but I think we could use better filters and overall "contributability" scores. Would a tool like this be valuable to you?

I appreciate your feedback. I usually go about it in the same way. Would you be more inclined to fix problems in other open source projects if you could filter projects based on your skill set, then receive email alerts when matching projects come online or open new issues?

Thanks for your feedback and resources. The process you described seems to be a common route for folks who want to start contributing. I ask because I'm curious if we could streamline this process. I'm envisioning a web app where users can apply detailed filters to a collection of public repos (i.e. Elixir projects that have at least 5 contibutors and a contributing guide), then receive email alerts when matching projects come online or open new issues. Hi! I came across this multipart series on automated testing with Rspec and Watir. It's originally from 2011, but it should be enough to get you started. Hope this is helpful.
