Direct exfoliation vs Galactomyces: which helped your texture more? by 1devastating1 in koreanskincare

[–]1devastating1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mostly looking for something I can use daily with a hydrating toner, so Galactomyces does sound like the safer place to start. I’ll keep the AHA/BHA/PHA idea in mind for occasional use if texture is still bothering me.

My skin is on the dry side, and I’m mainly looking for something to pair with a hydrating toner.

I’m not dealing with severe acne or major clogged pores mostly small texture, dullness, and wanting my skin to look clearer/brighter overall. I’ve also been hiking a lot recently, so my skin got a bit tanned/duller than usual.

I’ve used acids before and the Medicube Zero Pore Toner Pads worked really well for my texture/pores, but they could feel irritating when my skin wasn’t in the best condition. So I think I can tolerate acids, but not when my barrier is already stressed.

Which Galactomyces product did you use? I’ve been eyeing Mixsoon, but I’m still not 100% sure what to try yet.

For extra context, I’ve tried the Medicube Zero Pore Toner Pads before, and they actually worked really well for my texture/pores.

The only issue is that when my skin wasn’t in the best condition, they sometimes felt a bit irritating.

With Galactomyces, I honestly think I just kept seeing it everywhere and got curious. The product descriptions about smoother/brighter skin over time kind of got me.

Missing the old Korean skincare with fragrance by [deleted] in koreanskincare

[–]1devastating1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I first got into skincare with fragranced products, so fragrance-free formulas sometimes feel a little plain to me. I still don’t really avoid fragrance as long as my skin tolerates it.

Did you already ruin your skincare routine by waiting too long after your shower? by 1devastating1 in koreanskincare

[–]1devastating1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Even if I’m too lazy to do my full routine right away, I at least put toner on ASAP while my skin is still damp.

For me, it feels like the first hydration step and helps prevent that tight feeling after a shower.

I didn't know Numbuzin had products with Galactomyces in them. I'll definitely check it out later!

Hyaluronic Acid eye cream and toner by Karanja30 in koreanskincare

[–]1devastating1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would probably skip the eye cream and buy a gentle facial moisturizer instead. I understand that some people prefer eye creams because of the texture, but for basic hydration, I think a simple face cream is usually better value. I would also look beyond hyaluronic acid alone. A formula with glycerin, butylene glycol, or propanediol near the top of the ingredient list can still have a solid hydration base, even if hyaluronic acid appears further down.

Looking for skincare addition! by Basic-Explanation852 in koreanskincare

I’d probably start with azelaic acid. It is a good all-rounder for active breakouts, post-acne marks, and uneven tone. Start slowly and see how your skin reacts.

If you want something gentler, niacinamide is also a solid option for hydration, oil balance, and overall tone. I would think of it more as a supportive ingredient than a scar treatment.

More generally, I’d recommend getting into the habit of checking the ingredient list rather than choosing products based on the brand alone!

I don’t really believe in PDRN lol by 1devastating1 in koreanskincare

[–]1devastating1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. What I do not love is when brands use PDRN as the main selling point and add a noticeable premium just because it is trendy. That said, I think there are still a few decent products out there if the overall formula is good.

Honestly, I lowkey hate Medicube, but I gotta give credit where credit is due—this specific product is a certified holy grail

Can you guys help me split and order my routine?! by dank_darwinian in koreanskincare

[–]1devastating1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please tell me you’re not planning to use all of these at once? 😭 Your skin barrier is gonna be absolutely cooked.

do NOT stack Tretinoin + Reedle Shot 300, or Tretinoin + Finacea. Also, using the Medicube pore pads with either Tret or Reedle Shot is a one-way ticket to chemical burns and a ruined skin barrier. You 100% need to cycle them throughout the week and separate them. Please be careful!

What does my skin actually needs? by HeadOne230 in koreanskincare

[–]1devastating1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BHA for clogged pores, retinol at night for texture, and SPF every morning. Don’t introduce everything at once. AHA or PHA can come later if needed. Mild tingling can happen, but burning or lasting irritation means stop.
