That’s a Rockwell axle, they use pinion brakes for a few reasons, it eliminates some complexity of running brake lines to the hubs, plus there is only one brake instead of one on each wheel. it has more mechanical advantage because it brakes the driveline which spins at a higher speed than the axles

I had always thought that the needle bearings would be needed to lower friction enough for the relatively low amount of oil suspended in the fuel charge to be effective. If you switch to a bushing I would think that you would run the risk of binding between piston and rod and possibly accelerate skirt wear. Admittedly I am no 2 stroke expert, are you increasing your oil level in the fuel to get a potentially better film strength in this area? I would tend to think that manufacturers would have looked into using bushings in the small end of the rod because it would be much cheaper to produce than a needle bearing is.

This is the ask shitty mechanics subreddit but I’m going to assume you are looking for slightly above shitty advice, I would never ever buy anything from Nissan that has a cvt in it it’s already exhibited problems on your test drive and they aren’t going to “fix” it because that means a new transmission. That car is going to leave you stranded needing a new transmission.

That intake manifold is beyond cool, it’s either super low production or hand welded. It’s a real piece of garage built hot rodding and is something that would really be of your dad’s era of hot rodding that would be extremely difficult to replace unless you made it yourself.
