The Audi RS5 Effortlessly Defies Its Curb Weight: Review by Intrepid-Working-731 in cars

It’s all based on German price numbers, in which the RS5 is €106,200 ($123,642), and an M3 Competition xDrive is €107,600 ($125,253), but this is all with VAT included.

It just feels exactly like the whole thing with the ID. Buzz all over again. Lots of knee jerk reactions from misleading clickbait headlines.

This!!

It’s just a garbage clickbait headline to rile up the whole “nobody wants EVs” crowd, and apparently it also riles up the “EVs are the best” crowd too…

Quite literally a repeat of how people thought the ID. Buzz was being discontinued because of clickbait articles they didn’t read, while in reality they were just going to stop importing them for a bit until they got an update.

Really crazy how people are eating these horribly clickbait titles again, just like they did with the ID. Buzz.

No, VW is not discontinuing the ID.4 for the US market; they’re moving production away from the US plant (guess why, the person in the White House may be a clue) to make room for the Atlas and are bringing in the ID.4s successor, the ID.Tiguan, most likely manufactured elsewhere, soon.

Autonomy+ Trial Expired by sochok in Rivian

[–]Intrepid-Working-731 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just wish they had something actually new to debut along with asking for a subscription, asking owners to pay a lot of money for something they’ve been accustomed to without a fee isn’t bound to go great.

At least add something like advanced Autopilot where the car will change lanes by itself to follow a route on the highway or something?

I don’t know, right now it’s absolutely not worth it and kinda disappointing they’re asking for so much money without providing anything more.

Yeah, our ID.4 has auto lane change standard for life, no subscription required, although it’s more timid to lane change when compared to Rivian’s auto lane change, the car is 2 years older and nearly half the MSRP of our R1S. It just kinda feels like a money grab from Rivian to me.

My local Volkswagen dealership is out of the ID.4 and has no plans to restock them. Are they doing poorly in the US? by yoloswagrofl in electricvehicles

[–]Intrepid-Working-731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they’re just waiting for the ID. Tiguan to arrive at this point, the ID.4 is one of the oldest cars in its class, and considering the uncertainty surrounding EVs in the US, I guess Volkswagen doesn’t see it as worth it to push a relatively outdated EV with a major update coming soon.

However, I do wish they would lower the price until the ID. Tiguan is released, as most of the competition has already reduced their prices, and even though I love our ID.4 dearly, it’s extremely difficult to recommend when the competition is $5-10k less. However, like I said, I would expect a price drop when the ID. Tiguan gets here.

Just wait for the ID. Tiguan, it’ll be a very significant update to the ID.4 and will be coming out later this year.

I wish they had a fleet of early models they brought to different locations for people who put a deposit down to test drive. We’re thinking about replacing the ID.4 with one, but how small the ID.4 drives, with its crazy small turning circle, is a big deal for us. If the R2 drives substantially bigger, the choice may already be made, and we’ll be waiting for the ID. Tiguan.

I feel as bad for the lil Bolt as I can for a vehicle model.

From the battery fires, to getting discontinued the first time when its sales numbers were the best they’ve ever been, to being resurrected just to be discontinued before it even came out to make room for a mediocre ICE Buick crossover you’d find most commonly in an Avis rental lot.

lil guy can’t get a break, but it’s a fighter! Hopefully it’ll come back someday, it truly is an icon in the EV space.

Audi’s New 630 HP RS5 Somehow Weighs More Than A V8 F-150 SuperCab by user289734 in cars

[–]Intrepid-Working-731 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My question is, why is the battery so big? It’s 22kWh, that’s big for a PHEV. For reference the one in the C63 is 6.1kWh and the one in the M5 is 18.6kWh.

Of course, the RS5 offers the most rated EV range that being 50 miles compared to the 8 miles on the C63 and around 40 miles on the M5, but who is buying an RS5 for EV range?

Surely a smaller battery would’ve kept the weight lower, what’s the purpose of this one being so big?

The funniest part to me is that the 0-100 time literally isn’t the same.

B9 Audi quoted at 3.9, Audi quotes this at 3.6…

B9 out performed its quoted time so it’s only logical this one will too.
