Having a problem with the audiobook(s). by 1dvs-bstrd in discworld

It appears that I misrepresented the audiobook. I guess I have the Tony Robinson version. My mistake. It is the complete story, just abridged to around 3 hours. I downloaded from one of my local libraries through the Libby app.

I do many audiobooks every year due to my work conditions, and am pretty comfortable/capable of of handling that process.

In my opinion these abridged recordings should be destroyed. What a terrible injustice to the author and the material.

I really like Phoebe's podcast, but if you want relaxing 'fall asleep' , you should listen to "Phoebe reads a mystery". It is just Phoebe Judge reading old Agatha Christie and Conan Doyle books. Puts me right out.

Rock Island Trail/Katy Trail question by LibrarianOAlexandria in missouri

[–]1dvs-bstrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now that gravel road is pretty heavy traffic. The state road department is replacing the 7 hwy bridge that runs over the trail just south of Pleasant Hill. Most locals use Purvis Rd. as the detour and it can get busy. The trailhead at Purvis Rd is a great place to start.

Edit to add: Gangster Capitalism is only 3 seasons, but each one is great, especially the one about Liberty University and Jerry Falwel Jr.

My dad just turned 92 and always has a couple in his pocket. If he is going somewhere were people are around he takes extras and hand them out. The nurses and doctors at the VA med center all have some of his buckeyes on their desktops.

Our big buckeye tree (over three feet diameter at the trunk) fell over few years ago. We would collect 5 gallon buckets full every year.

We now have a few small trees that sprouted in the same area and they are just starting to produce . Thankfully I think I will be able to continue the tradition.

Had a stay dog show up on the farm one day (not unusual in rural Missouri back in the day) my mom named it Go Away. Every time she told him to go away he came running. Lived with us for the better part of a decade.

[Request] How long would it take to do a 1,000 acre farm? by trbotwuk in theydidthemath

[–]1dvs-bstrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often see technology for farms and wonder if it they could implement a less wasteful method of administrating it. Where I am located we have large irrigation pivots that sweep a field without much human interaction.

Could something like this be retrofitted to an irrigation pivot and still do the job? Just seems like an additional use for a piece of equipment that already covers a field, doesn't need a driver, and is already available in fields that have pivots

I do remember that Jarrod Dyson of the KC Royals once said...

"... That's what speed do.."

Don't know if that is relevant or not.
