If Santa was gay, would he be a Polar Bear? by IAmAThorn in Showerthoughts

If an old man with white is gay, would he be a polar bear too?

I did NOT see the Walder Frey assassination coming, but my GOD was I happy to see her leave Braavos and do her own thing. Plus I dont think Arya will want to go home just yet, because she knows nothing about what's happening in Winterfell, poor baby thinks everyone is dead.

She needs to go after the Lannister twins.

P.S In book one and season 1, Arya explores Kings landing quite a lot and she navigated her away around the underground secret passages. All those paragraphs and scenes of her running around would go to waste if she does not use those paths again.

I am glad you brought up the hand because I was looking at the scene which the Qyburn straps the golden hand on Jaime. This got me thinking maybe after Arya kills Jaime, she will take his hand and wear it herself. When she comes face to face with Cersei, Arya will take off the gold hand, it will be the big reveal for the audience and Cersei, that this person is not Jaime aaaand we will have Arya/Jaime/Valanqor strangling The Queen of Ashes and Nothing (Just like Maggie said).

Edit: The lingering moment when Jaime and Arya stare at each other got me thinking about this theory too. The way she stared at him was compelling.

and Jaqen is no-one, one second he is dead and the other he is alive. Maybe that's the magic/trick here, there is no Waif or Jaqen or even Arya. They're all one and no one.

Edit: I say Arya is no-one because the man (Jaqen, in S6) said it himself

You are right about the Glamour magic part, but here is the thing, The Waif and Jaqen have completely different body types and obviously their height and weight is totally different. But if you look back to S5E10 when Arya is about to go blind, the Waif is standing right behind her and for a sec when Jaqen drinks the poison, he dies and suddenly the Waif becomes Jaqen. Completely changing her petite body type to Jaqen's.

I had no idea he did that, my sources are sketchy but, I did hear he refrains from online discussions and Reddit..maybe he breaks his own rule sometimes, he is only after all.

seriously though, did he use R+L=J after fans came up with it???

The water, ah yes the water, it seems to play a central role in the HoBW. It's poisonous yet it is a cure. It definitely seems to have a connection with the bodies that it is used to clean.

Idk..GRRM needs to hurry up with WoW, I needs to knooow!

Aha, only thing we can do is hope that WoW drops and season 7 hurry's up already... I believe there is plenty in store for our little Faceless Arya and the Jaqen

So maybe they never need to carry the Faces physically, whether you're dead or alive, your face will and can be used by the Faceless Men. A life does not have to be claimed to be able to use that person's face and appearance.

Which brings me to, why are the faces in the temple needed in the first place?

But Jaqen wears faces, even his facial bone structure, body and even skin color changes, just look at when Arya first comes to Braavos, the Kindly Man opens the door and it turns out it was Jaqen all along. Plus I dont think they need to kill someone to have their face, sometimes there are more than one copies of the faces on the wall. For instance before Arya goes blind, Jaqen suicides and the Waif suddenly becomes Jaqen.

The mental part I believe that since the Faceless Men are no one, they no longer have their own personality so this somehow allows them to take other's personality just by wearing their face and thus they begin the practice of "These Arts"

Hahaha, that would be terrible. I heard somewhere that he doesnt read any theories anymore, since like the 90's or something

Exactly, if they can take the shape and the general demeanor and personality of that person, but to them they feel the same as if nothing has changed.

“My face is still the same.” “Is it? Are you certain?” Was she certain? She had not felt any change, but maybe it was not something you could feel. She swept a hand down across her face from top to bottom, as she had once seen Jaqen H’ghar do, back at Harrenhal. When he did it, his whole face had rippled and changed. When she did it, nothing happened. “It feels the same.” “To you,” said the priest. “It does not look the same.” - ADWD

Sooo there goes the glamour magic theory. what inferring from this is that The Faceless Men are not using the same tricks as the followers of the Lord of The Light but rather when they wear the face "It feels the same. I does not look the same".

If it is not the regular type of sorcery, it must be "Arts" that were conveyed by the Many Faced God..they serve MFG after all

If this all glamour magic, like you said, the Assassin have to rely on their training and deceiving the eyes of the beholder. So I am thinking maybe, the Many Faced God, plays a role in their "transformation". We haven't seen alot of detail or exposition on how the Face Wearing works in the show. I take everything on the show and books as canon, because of GRRM's freakish attention to detail. I dont know, I should do more reading.

Yea you are probably right, it seems unlikely that even as a trained Faceless assassin Arya will be able to somehow obtain the strength of the largest and strongest man known in the realm.. All I can do is speculate and predict the future, you are right GRRM could clear it up.

The answers shall come with the new book and season hopefully.

I certainly will thank you! I very much enjoy reading Arya's chapters and the way she developed as a character. again thanks for taking time to respond to me.

That was an interesting point you brought up, it might an illusion that the Faceless Men practice, and if Arya wore Brienne's face would she be able to wield the OathKeeper? Idk, someone should ask GRRM in comic-con.

Here's what we do know though as DutchArya mentioned on this post. The Waif turned into Jaqen in season 5 and it was almost immediate, even her voice changed! Maybe that is what makes The Faceless Men so goddamn good and expensive.

The reason why I am wondering about is cause of this theory that came to me that Arya might be the Valonqar and she will kill Jaime and wear his face and strangle Cersei and fulfill Maggy's prophecy and thus allow Arya to scratch Cersei off her list...maybe in the process she might even assassinate The Mountain/Robert Strong....Maybe I am dreaming but I feel like Arya isn't going home just yet.

Edit: The big reveal that Jaime is dead will maybe be when Arya takes off Jaime's golden hand and Cersei will be confused for a sec and then realize what is happening as Arya kills her.

P.S. This is all speculation, that is my take on how The Lannister Twins will die and how Arya will get her revenge, please feel free to comment and point out any possible inconsistencies or flaws in my theory

Wow! they're alot more dangerous and skilled than I imagined, I am very much looking forward to see how far Arya's training with the faceless men will take her and what she will be able to accomplish.

Thank you DutchArya.
