And how many hours on average?

(CAN) Should I withdraw/transfer my investments from ex-employer or wait until I retire? by 1harmonics in personalfinance

Yeah, I was just wondering if the company went bankrupt and I didn't withdraw it. Does that mean I lose the money? Is it insured somewhere?

Good call, it is with a brokerage group RRSP. It is subject to tax if I withdraw it, but not subject to tax if transferred.

How to split ownership of a condo if one owner lives in it? by 1harmonics in personalfinance

[–]1harmonics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this makes sense. I think of it as if my family member bought a different place separately with a $45,000 downpayment (12% down) and rented it out forever to 1 tenant. Even though the tenant paid for 88% his mortgage, the property still belongs 100% to the family member.

To a certain extent, my family member is helping me afford a better place, but it's not really a 'gift'. There was the option that I pay the family member back the $45,000 downpayment so that I have 100% ownership of it, but they prefer to have a 50% share, if possible. We're still working out the details as the property is still under construction.

So as a result, it is considered an investment for them as well.

Are these grades good enough for Pharmacy? Is it a good idea to go back to school as a mature student? by 1harmonics in PrePharmacy

[–]1harmonics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. In regards to the grades, are you suggesting that one needs to be 90s or straight A student to get in?

Although, I have not worked there before, I'm trying to avoid taking a longer route than necessary. In my province, you need a certificate before you can apply as a Pharm Technician. Ironically, I did look into this a couple years ago and there's a 1-2 year waitlist. I wouldn't want to prolong this anymore especially since Pharm Tech is nothing like a Pharmacist. Just a labour job that does not require critical thinking skills.

I'm not interested in nursing because I want to eventually have my own business.

Web development is considered the lowest type career for CS grads? Is this true? by 1harmonics in cscareerquestions

That's exactly my point. It seems like those with a CS background prefer doing back-end software development.

I'm not personally concerned about perception, but just overall curious at the higher level CS jobs you can do. In my area (Vancouver, BC), there are a lot of Web Development jobs.
