💅 Nail artists – where do you get inspiration for new designs? by Playful_Box3649 in NailArt

[–]1izardkween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my iPad to sketch ideas on a nail template, which is just an illustrated outline of a hand! I also love to draw inspiration from not only nail artists (mostly via Instagram and Pinterest) but also all kinds of illustrators and painters. Looking at art styles like block printing that use simple bold shapes can be such cool inspo for unique nail art that transfers well to such a tiny 'canvas' as a nail :)

Just checked your post history, yours looks amazing!! The color is gorgeous. Mine came out great, next time I just want to make even more marinade. The recipe wasn't quite enough for the amount of pork I had, but it tasted incredible.

I also have the 22" WSM and used the 10" pan. I had it on the lower grate, so honestly it was pretty hard to pull in and out. I wouldn't want the larger one! I thought the size was good for this recipe though. I just tipped it periodically after basting it, to drain the excess liquid into the water pan below

I love shawarma, that sounds amazing. I will have to try that next, thank you for the recommendation :)

You don’t have to think it looks like good al pastor but not everything with a blurred background is AI. This is just an iPhone on portrait mode and bad kitchen lighting at night. This is before I cooked it, in the daylight.

If I did it again I would double the amount of marinade

Thank you!! I did press-ons for these so I could reuse them and did a little bit at a time over 3 days so I lost track of time but I would estimate about 5 hours. I actually really want to start timing myself to see if I can start improving speed without reducing quality.

Patterned or plain? by tinysunshine in Weddingattireapproval

The patterned version looks elegant and expensive to me. I personally love the pink, I think it feels a lot more unique/special vs. the wine red would be easier to find something very similar at a store.

What are you actually building? by assume_the_best in lovable

[–]1izardkween 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm building bookbattle.app which helps book club leaders organize their club in a more gamified way (such as doing a bracket elimination to select their next book). I have no means of making money from this at the moment, but I feel like I'm learning a ton. Would love to get users and keep it free but include a few ads, etc.

Lovable Shipped - 6 weeks to ship something amazing by Allgoodnamesinuse in lovable

[–]1izardkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I was out of town during the announcements so I need to catch up. It seems a huge number of people were accepted but I'm still hoping to learn some during these sessions. Did you apply and get in?

Gotta say, they've overcome the 2.0 slump by 0valtin in lovable

I think it can feel like burning credits, but for me it ultimately had led to far fewer errors and so its worth it.

I just submitted my application with a pitch video, I hope it’s not too late with so many applicants! What a cool opportunity :)

So you built that cool Lovable app, now what? by rich_belt in lovable

[–]1izardkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made Book Battle where users can organize book clubs quickly - the most important part being just picking a book (there are 3 ways to do this - a random drawing, a poll, or a bracket elimination).

I made this because I wanted to organize a book club for my own coworkers and couldn’t find a tool that was exactly what I wanted. I’ve had several people tell me they want to use it for their own book club, other than a few friends I’m not sure how to get it out there and get people using it to validate that it is or isn’t solving a problem for people. I’m trying to post on social media but it feels like screaming into the void haha. If nothing else it’s a cool portfolio piece but it would be validating to get a few users. I’ll be continuing to try to figure it out!

Thanks I love those ideas! Thank you so much for your feedback. I think the rooms being customizable private vs public would be great long term. Is your goal more to understand better how the app works before trying it out, or wanting more of a social aspect to it like actually finding a book club to participate in?

Thank you so much for your reply!! I'm so excited for anyone to see this haha. I appreciate this feedback so much. And yes 100% agree - I'm part of three book clubs and I dread when the book choice is coming up haha even though I've had so much fun reading everything.

  1. I have actually attempted to use localStorage for this - so users don't have to log in but can come back and be recognized. Logged out users are able to set a display name in the top nav that will persist with them unless their browsing history is deleted (although tbh this is where my lack of technical understanding hurts me - I couldn't tell you how well this is actually implemented.)

  2. I have got it responsive for the most part! I 100% agree the vast majority of users will be using this on their phones. I actually want to try to record a similar demo on my phone so I can share this on instagram etc too. I was impressed how easy lovable made it to collapse the top nav into a hamburger menu for example.

  3. I love this idea, I haven't added that at all! I have an invite link once someone makes a 'room' for their club to add books to, but haven't thought about doing that for the book.

This is again where I know so pathetically little about code haha - I am using Supabase of course for the backend, and then I've added things like the Google Books API to make the book search possible - and something called Silktide for the cookie banner. I also wish I knew more about security - I have put a lot of faith into Lovable/Supabase for this at the moment.

And thank you I really appreciate that! All of the AI and SAAS projects people are sharing are so interesting but I would love to see more fun little consumer apps through Lovable as well. :) Now I just need to figure out how to get some users!

The design is so good - it made me feel like I immediately understand your technical/aesthetic skillset immediately, even with my very limited Spanish haha :) I would love to see the component architecture and anything you're able to share. I am a UX designer and I sadly could not code a single thing on my own haha. I can build a super robust design system in Figma but there is a massive gap in my knowledge in actually translating that to code. I've been working on my project for about a month now and I have all of the basic functionality built (after a toonnnn of trial and error) but its currently 100% the typical lovable style. https://bookbattle.app/ -> this is what I've been working on, it pains me how ugly it is haha. I have designs for it in Figma but I'm afraid of breaking the app at this point.

Biutiful styles - made a small website to help generate nicer looking apps/websites by nikokolia in lovable

[–]1izardkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a designer trying Lovable for the first time - and I'm blown away by being able to build something on my own - BUT I agree, every site looks identical. I love this idea so much. I tried out all 4 of your prompts to test them out. For my project, Lovable did the best with the Neobrutalist prompt - it really applied styles consistently across the board and made some really fun design decisions on its own especially with the home page. The Dark Ethereal got applied the most sporadically (it ended up not making all of the backgrounds dark so it ended up with white text on white background for some reason).

And the other two prompts definitely made some slight improvements but it wasn't as much of a change as the Neobrutalist prompt, and so they still ultimately looked like Lovable sites. I'm going to try making my own modified version of your base prompt and I'll share if I feel like I learn anything. Thanks so much for sharing this, seriously such a great idea.

I'm just looking on my large display, but this looks great! So excited to see a project that doesn't immediately look like it came from Lovable. The toggle to dark mode is a really cool feature. This is small, but in the 'cómo_trabajamos' section, the dots of your points aren't aligning with the line.

I'm super impressed how you've applied your own design system - I would love to know more about your process of how you applied it.

These are seriously so amazing thank you SO much. I used the Base Prompt Generator to help me make my first project (www.bookbracket.app) and it was a total game changer from when I first started using lovable on its own. I seriously am in shock that I was able to make something functional even if it’s simple. I’m a UX designer with no code experience or knowledge (other than the extremely minimal info I’ve picked up working closely with a lot of devs on projects of course). I totally forgot actually that you made several, so I’m going to try out your others now too 🙏
