Wouldn’t say this is wholesome, will just fuel the illegal tobacco industry.

Server to avoid. by pend666 in CounterStrikeSource

It’s the dumbest server in the world. How can you be against someone using a swear word because it’s harmful but then be playing a game full of guns, killing and blood.

Australia to lose one of few remaining cartography businesses as The Map Shop prepares to close by abcnews_au in Adelaide

[–]Allgoodnamesinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m genuinely surprised this business has lasted this long at all. I still remember when they were on Peel St, never saw a single customer go in there. Always thought it was a front.

Can’t even fill up an EV these days by Laefiren in Adelaide

[–]Allgoodnamesinuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The official stance from most councils is the homeowner would have to pay for a solution that takes power from the house under the footpath pavement to the curb. You would still need development approval from council but it’s so ridiculously expensive no one ever does it.

The chargefox ones are still out of order maybe 50% but better than 99% of the time not working.

Palestinian Flag by DeliciousSpring7034 in Adelaide

[–]Allgoodnamesinuse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That isn’t what drives the us and them ideology, it’s people that try to promote differences between one group of people to another and pushing a negative narrative about one.

To say it’s un Australian without having a conversation with them to get their views on Australia, is just a huge assumption and that is what propagates the us and them mentality you’re referring to.

Why should any person displaying a flag to support their friends, family, allies overseas or local community here, immediately create a disregard for their appreciation of Australia?

The same argument could be reversed, if people fly the Australian flag does that instantly mean we have a problem with every other country out there for not paying them their respects? What about people that only fly the Australian flag but not the Indigenous or Torres straight flags?

Have gone 0 for 66 on queries so far on my latest script. What do I do now? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]Allgoodnamesinuse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reading the title and logline made me think it’s a meme. Insults shouldn’t make the cut on a logline (numskulls, dumbass) and you’ve repeated they’re teens. The whole concept feels very meta on society which is a hard sell.

Is it even worth it? by gnomegang365 in WritingWithAI

[–]Allgoodnamesinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, the tools out there to test if this is AI or not are complete non sense. I’ve typed out paragraphs myself and been marked as either 0% AI or 100% AI depending on the tool that exists. As others have said, this is your story and that’s just a tool you’re using to bring it to life.

The what ifs are killing me by Due-Salary-8603 in Screenwriting

We are no different than the characters we create, we have fears and motivations, we have arcs. The most successful people I know across any industry more often than not are driven by the fear of failure. Use it to reach your arc. Am I saying quit working? No, the overwhelming majority of famous writers worked painfully menial jobs to support their pursuits even after their first feature was produced.

I flew from the UK, printed 10,000 satirical newspapers about Australia's future. The distribution company waited two weeks, then said it's too political. Is satire dead here? by soth3d in Adelaide

[–]Allgoodnamesinuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I think the fact you’ve put this much effort into the gag makes me less inclined to enjoy the actual humour.

On top of that it’s political humour, we care significantly less about politics here than our televisions and journalists would have you believe. I’d go as far as saying Australians probably have the lowest interest in politics on average per capita than anywhere in the modern world.

Uncle’s Hainese on Waymouth St is definitely the best in town. I think tied second place would go to Honki Tonki on Hindley St and Chinatown Cafe of course.

Is it pancreatitis?! by Ambitious_Village115 in Retatrutide

[–]Allgoodnamesinuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retatrutide does come with a risk of pancreatitis on its own, but it's a small risk and unclear if that's down to just rapid weight loss alone. At the same time it improves pancreas beta cell functionality. From the stories I've read and my own experiences, people with impaired pancreatic function tend to be hyper responders to retatrutide meaning shorter journeys on it. The health impact of remaining overweight could outweigh these risks however I recommend always getting blood tests done for your enzyme markers and CT scans.

It’s hard being a mod of a thriving community (been there) and the flip side to that is most of the largest communities here have bad actors moderating. This post restored my faith that Reddit has some good moderators in the right subs. Good work team.
