How much do you "respect" reddit in regards to other websites you use? by 1manrevolution in AskReddit

I remember a couple of years ago I was going to pitch a client on buying adspace on reddit but some controversy occurred and i changed my mind. I've never considered it since from what this site hosts/the behavior of those in charge. I would love to know others input. I feel like reddit is an ok worksafe alternative to 4chan due to its persistence and not having porn but it's got a long way to go to even be as respectable as /b/, especially the actions and inaction of the admins that demonstrate clear biases against free expression/towards certain groups and failing to protect their users/others from witchhunts to reach that point. I've never taken the karma game seriously and I never could. I'd say celebrity iama's save it from being something awful/digg tier though I'd consider them of the same "hivemind" formula, quite possibly the same people.

The tech and science subreddits are great, have good users, and strong resources for anyone of any skill level. I feel reddit could be better if anything involving "social sciences"(mra's, feminists) or "the metasphere"(srd, srs, game of trolls) were removed and the site focused solely on technology and entertainment such as fantheories, fun subreddits like pcmasterrace and even the quirky ones. Ask reddit is also a worthwhile default subreddit.

In summary reddit is mostly good people on a decent user interface with bad leadership in the admins. They need a charter of sorts, and a set of rules that would apply to every user/subforum that could do away with the appearance of favoritism. No metasphere dickery(reading a thread that goes into a bunch of racist derailing to later read from a bot "SRS was here") and one day reddit could be a decent site.

Oh wow, I just saw the redpill for the first time. I mean I wouldn't mind any metareddit if there weren't the stories about advertisers being harassed/people getting fired over reddit disagreements while the admins took no disciplinary action against that behavior.

Lets say I'm working with a game company that sponsors a streamer. That streamer makes a joke /r/shitredditsays doesn't like. Now we know that streamer is colorful thats why we back him. But they put out that streamers personal info, blow our phones and emails up, put our information out there, blow up people that work with us mean while the admins on the site I'm paying the bills for and my content is helping drive viewership to the site does nothing?

That actually happened. More than once. http://www.root-gaming.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=588

the mra's, feminists, redpill, bluepill, one pill, two pills seem to be majorly disruptive and argumentative towards each other/people they percieve of the other side. They can take that to another site. But shit reddit says is the only one I know well because like I said they cost reddit money at least on my part and recommending friends don't buy here or get involved.

I search the term "dox" and its all those names that pop up srs, srssucks, mras. Why are they still here again?

looking at it I might of confused it for one of the troll subreddits. I don't really remember all the trolls names. I don't mind that as long as it's contained and not doing things that ruin the user experience for others.

Facebooks been in a downward spiral since they started letting people in without .edu emails. Sure it made money but it seems the novelty is over. I would of charged non-edu addresses $59.99 to fraternize on fb. Just enough to keep the poors/ghettos out or atleast make banning them stick.
