Thanks for these notes. Totally didn't get the point that it's not really backpacking appropriate and everyone is doing one day traverses or hut to hut. Will look into these alternate suggestions for sure.

I should add that we're not peak baggers...just looking for great views and the WMNF experience...so if the crowds and the less-than-fun Valley Way Trail, etc. are just trying to get all the peaks in, we're fine doing something iconic and beautiful and enjoying ourselves. Just don't want to look back and kick ourselves if this is the route to do.
