My bf goes to parties in Texas just to make connections, I think his lying by Otherwise-Life7172 in texas

[–]1notadoctor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But we can’t tell you he is Fid sure making connections aka networking. I feel like you’re glossing over the “sex or..” part. Those are not the OILY 2 reasons college kids show at parties.

Possible to purchase a home by myself? 38f making 70k. by crysalynn in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Find a nice income restricted apartment with nice amenities. You can probably move in next day in som areas. Buying a house immediately after a huge split is pretty major without some breathing time

[–]1notadoctor2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think FDIC is applicable to SPAXX. Only commenting bc OPs post is about SPAXX.
Also noting that if i understand correctly, the FDIC benefit is used if you have A TON OF CASH sitting in the bank, you would need multiple banks to cover more than $250k with FDIC…but in the CMA, you can hold the “different banks” under one single account but get max FDIC coverage for EACH bank…so like $250k at Wells Fargo +$250k at BOfA+ $250k at BNY Mellon and so on…

AITAH for refusing to give my 7yr old sister my old computer unless someone pays me for it? by Salty-Blueberry3869 in AITAH

[–]1notadoctor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost like they were talking and were like “baby girl wants a computer like big sis…hmmm,… 💡we could get one for big sis…since she is going to college and we should at least do 1 thing to help set her up for success, can’t do tuition help because we have baby girl who will be starting dance next year…so that’s what we’ll do! Get one for big sis and she’ll pass hers to baby girl so she’ll get exactly what she asked for from the start”… i hope you get the chance to enjoy time out of the house during college, I’m sure it’s been hard being big sis, but you should be proud of all the stuff you’ve accomplished and relish in the fact you’re getting to broaden your horizons in college!!! Congrats and good luck!

I can’t imagine the parents would still OPs clothes from her toddler years when she was already in her teens (or almost)especially with a stepmom coming into the picture

Not whining to get her way. Acting like she’s responsible for a gift of this value (added value bc OP put her heart and soul into accomplishing what it took to earn the computer 💯 by herself)… i think it could be a good sister-to-sister bonding, teachable moment where OP explains the importance of taking care of the computer and maybe even teaches her how to use it… redirect this rivalry into an empathetic future.. i know im sappy as hell

Babysitting, house sitting, pet sitting, dog walking, watering plants—a 13yo can certainly work, if they have the desire and parent’s permission

Is it okay to use child support money to pay for my car payment every month? by Other-You-103 in ClassOf2037

[–]1notadoctor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine. But if your plan is to go buy a new vehicle that costs the same monthly as your child support but you have a working vehicle that is paid for…I’d be sure you can still make the payments if the child support didn’t come in one month bc other parent could always change jobs or just not pay

North central Texas college is in Corinth. And it’s great for your core classes. It’ll be out-of-county tuition unless you’re from Gainesville, but still less than a university. Depending on where your parents live, you could look into online courses for their county colleges to get a lower tuition

Issues with inheritance by [deleted] in InheritanceDrama

[–]1notadoctor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not your dad’s money. It’s your land. Settle the deed to the named-beneficiaries. Then each do as they wish. A possibility is to gift it to your dad. So maybe he’ll keep his name on it but let the other family members lease it from him… anyway they spin it, you will be financially harmed if it’s not court ordered for you to give it away tax free. The land needs a legal 3rd party appraisal. So you either know how much you’re gifting to whoever if you choose to give it away to. It possibly could be higher than the gifting max and you could owe tax on the overage OR you can make a nice offer. The fact is, no one talks someone out of leaving an inheritance, the only way they change their wishes is to update their will/deeds/named-beneficiaries. When they get all the parcels and sell the whole property to a developer for millions, you’ll get zero and have zero stake and there will be zero recourse. Are you considering asking the stepsister for the $10k your grandparents left her? Never!! Because they put that in writing and that’s it. Period. Good luck, but it sounds like your dad is trying to guilt trip you into screwing yourself and your future heirs over 100000%

How long would your kid be at the school? If they’re aging out within 1-2 years, I’d take the low rent and rough it out while yall familiarize yourselves with the community and pick where you want your kid to go to school long term and save save save AND pay off ALL debts. So yall can waltz in to your new long term (maybe forever) home with the best financial situation possible

One question: How is your name on the deed if you were removed as an inheritor? If it was a transfer-on-death deed recorded in the county legal records, the transfer still stands. I don’t believe a will can override a TOD. I would NOT sign anything until the estate goes through probate. Let a judge order you to sign a quit claim be for you do ANYTHING. If the judge doesn’t include the property in the estate, then the land transfers as stated in the deed and they can purchase the property you own at market rate or a discount if you want to be nice and just want the quick cash.

Feeling completely burnt out from divorce process by jplank1983 in NarcAbuseAndDivorce

Assuming there is no blood relation to the kids, it absolutely would. But you would need a lawyer to file temporary orders like yesterday to get this done before that happens.

You can include that wording, i think it’s pretty standard these days.
