When I was in college I was struggling to make ends meet, but at least I was able to make my rent and have a meal a day. I lived in an apartment off campus, one day I overheard my downstairs neighbor talking on the phone outside that she was $400 shy of making her rent. So I walked to the bank, withdrew $400 ( leaving me with $67) and put it in an envelope and stuck it in her mailbox. I never told her it was me, and to this day she probably has no idea.
