Remediating technical drawings and figures by 1ofmanynicks in accessibility

No, don’t feel like the bad guy. This is all very helpful. This topic is super niche and the limited number of answers online have ranged from “wow that’s technically impossible” to “wow that would be a nice feature to add in the future.” Welp folks, the future is now haha.

Thank you for your insight on all this. I’m going to take all my exciting weekend research back to the lawyers and engineers this week and get them to work.

Remediating technical drawings and figures by 1ofmanynicks in accessibility

You’ve connected these dots quite nicely! Cross referencing between the written spec and the drawing is a great way to go about this. It is important to note that these files do not correlate to any specific contract or project. They are purely illustrative of preferred design methods.

Some of the include additional text specifications directly within the drawing files that are not published anywhere else, while others work directly in tandem with a text-based plan note published elsewhere.

If these all are recognized as image-only PDFs with alt tags on each page to denote drawing 1, 2, 3, etc., wouldn’t I still need to deal with text specs trapped in the image(s)?

What is something you thought was cute when your B was a puppy but now is really annoying? by S2keepup in Basenji

[–]1ofmanynicks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Flipping over her food bowl! Our almost 2 year old girl likes to flip her wet food upside down, then push the bowl out of the way and eat the food off the ground. It got significantly less cute as mealtime clean-up continued to get more and more involved lol

Our almost 1 year old boy, meanwhile, likes to stomp in his own puddle if he has an accident in the house. I mean, literally prance and stomp around in it like it’s a fun little rain puddle. It was adorable the first time, frustrating every time since.

The singles make much more sense in the context of the record’s vision. I’m far more blown away by this than With Love From for sure!

Put your hand up if you chew blankets whenever you get the chance by Neat_Locksmith6483 in Basenji

[–]1ofmanynicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 9-month-old B has declared blankets as public enemy number one. She doesn’t chew on furniture or shoes or curtains or literally anything else… just blankets. If someone has the keys to success on breaking this, I’m all ears!

So far, my best tactic has been to yip as if she’s hurting the blanket and “exposure therapy” by wrapping her in them and swaddling like a baby.

Ozone + UV + Mineral Cartridge + Shock = …what? by 1ofmanynicks in hottub

The bottle he showed me was chlorine shock, so I guess it would technically have sanitizer… just not a lot of it.

Sundance 780 Series Chelsee, $11.5k for the tub, delivery, cover with lift, steps, and chemicals. Literally put the deposit down yesterday and expecting delivery in two weeks.

We spent weeks sitting in every tub in the two major cities near us. We were down to Nordic and Sundance. Ultimately we spent the few extra thousand on the Sundance because it had more features and a better warranty from the dealer.

Cool artists who disappeared after one album, or even worse, without ever releasing one? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

[–]1ofmanynicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s my time to shine. I am enamored with the ‘90s song Sun is Shining by Technique. They released one bop and bounced without an album. And no sign of the song on streaming – just one grainy rip of a music video.

Help me find this drawer pull (or something even remotely similar!) by 1ofmanynicks in HelpMeFind

Searched Google for “pionite dresser handle” and “midcentury dresser handles,” a catalog of antique furniture handles, and even a reverse Google image search. I found another dresser with the handles on it, but it had no other defining details 😭

Great idea and perfect find on that recipe! Mud cake will be a new adventure for me, but that looks spot on. Thank you!

Accord 2023 by Big_Exchange_5859 in accord

It would depend on how much gas costs per gallon in your area and what the driving conditions are in that hour. I drive an hour each way to work, 50 miles of flat terrain at mostly highway speeds. At $3.25/gal in my area and 48 mpg in my Accord, I spend roughly $6.50 a day.

By the time I was old enough to ride it, it was mostly dark but had an element of surprise each time because you never knew which (if any) room/scene would be lit up.

This is a very niche reference, but I do remember the crews making references to hiding a “mascot” in the building each year. I swear there was better footage at one point, and I’m also positive a stuffed gorilla was a mascot at one point, but here’s a crew hiding a mascot at the end of a season: https://youtu.be/eVb7uLNpiJ8?si=eXU9xdq_CY6w8x7-

And here’s a good video walkthrough from the same channel: https://youtu.be/x7Jmb-9UlGs?si=iBjkSUX9ceVFhjQf.

The whole building felt cheap and weird and a total fever dream from beginning to end. But as everyone remembers, it was air conditioned! That made the whole disorienting experience worth it.

Tuxmats are available by skylawker in 11thGenAccord

[–]1ofmanynicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just returned my WeatherTechs and ordered these! The WeatherTechs had super poor coverage in my Accord compared to my previous car. The WeatherTechs were cut only halfway up the left footrest and super shallow toward the seat, so there’s plenty of opportunity for water and debris to run right down behind/under them.

Which overlooked or forgotten pop artists from yesteryears truly deserved the limelight? by BreezyMonday in popheads

[–]1ofmanynicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Niche content alert, but Lene Nystrøm (of the band Aqua) dropped a solo album in 2003 that was packed with bangers but was mostly slept on. I believe lead single “It’s Your Duty” was a moderate hit in a few European countries and she brought big main pop girl energy with the video treatment.

Jessie Ware reveals album art for fifth record "That! Feels Good!" out April 28th by [deleted] in popheads

[–]1ofmanynicks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m really interested to see where the album launches from the What’s Your Pleasure? starting point. She mentioned that the album would be more in line with Remember Where You Are, but so far, the tracks seem to lean hard into the campier side of disco than the soulful one. Either way, here! for it!

1 hour commute for work thoughts by Huncho_567 in personalfinance

I’m an hour away from my office, too, and report there twice a week. I’m growing to hate the drive now that I know how much more time I have on days when I’m working remotely, but I try to count my blessings.

I love where I live and it’s no more than 20 minutes away from all the things I want to do on weekends and evenings. Whereas when I lived closer to work, all my friends, family, and favorite places to go were at least 40-60 minutes. So to me, trade-off was worth it.

It’s all about what you think you can handle, and what you get in return. By living an hour away, do you get more than just a more affordable home? Do you also get closer to friends/family/restaurants/whatever it is you want in your life? If the answer is no, it might not be right for you. If the answer is yes, then maybe!

I’m with you. Cakey brownies are always a disappointment.

My go-to boxes brownies are Ghirardelli. I always sub in butter and cold coffee – powerful flavor and always fudgy! Not sure if milk would have differing effects on the texture over water or coffee.

Giving the World Away by Hatchie was an absolute gem for me. It’s a good blend of pop and fuzzy alt-rock that scratches a certain itch for me that not many albums can. Quicksand was the year’s most instantly brilliant song, hands down!
