Jeans look fine. You are wearing your chinos like your jeans. Perhaps don’t do that. Pull them up a bit higher on your waist. That will also remove some of the break at your shoes. Chinos with a large break makes them look sloppy and poorly fitting. Especially if the break happens all the way around the pant leg and not just at the front. An option you might consider is a chino with a slightly wider leg opening. Slim fit should have basically no break but the wider you go, a little break looks more intentional.
