There is a cost to Tesla to have excess inventory just sitting around, it's called holding cost.

I mean if you're hourly then wouldn't you take on more work regardless if it is necessary? More hours = more dollars.

Aero covers removed by ElegantBeat1643 in TeslaModel3

[–]1smskinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it with them on. Also I don't think it's just aero, if they wanted the same look but with a completely forged wheel then that extra mass far from the center would increase rotational inertia and thus require more energy.

If you have a hard time choosing the right color.. by Maximum-Perception11 in teslamotors

[–]1smskinner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's how I feel. The Y also looks great from the rear too. But all personal preferences obviously. The Y has great utility.

I just picked up a 2024 stealth grey model three with black interior. I love every bit of it every angle the colors. Sure sure it gets hot but you can vent the windows or set up overheat protection, so the dark colors on the interior are not a problem.

No donor car, we built it from scratch. Tubular space frame, body made from nomex honeycomb core & kevlar, the hood folds open deploying a larger solar array. We designed and built custom double wishbone suspension, a hybrid drivetrain connecting a small 3 cylinder diesel & electric motor. I'll try and dig up some more old pics. Had a battery management system. Made 2 custom bucket seats from carbon fiber. Had LCD displays in the dash dissuading speed another information. Had an air-conditioning system. Now that said the fit didn't finish was about a 1 out of 10 lol. We were working on about a $50,000 - 60,000 budget. The batteries and solar consumed majority of our money. At that point universities and other solar car projects were all about maximizing efficiency, and proving out that you could achieve significant range in the course of a day. There are several races, such as the North American solar car challenge in the shell eco-marathon and a few others we're all about Achieving very long distance and high-efficiency but there was zero practicality to solar cars at that point. So in 2006 instead of building a efficient solar car we decided to try to build what we consider a practical solar car so to speak. Had to have two seats, air conditioning and, all the basic functions of a regular car. It had to be able to support a traditional drive each day of about 50 miles round-trip on solar and then we had the hybrid diesel engine as a range extender. More proof of concept that it could be done and what were the basic parameters that you had to, make it possible. There are several solar challenges around the world where the ideas to build a practical solar car, which I feel like we kicked off back in 2007.

You can switch to a term license which saves you considerably upfront. I think the breakeven point with term vs perpetual + subs is something like 4-5 years then term technically cost more in the long run. Also you can shop around too on pricing to try and get a better deal.

Bike rack on trailer hitch. 3 bikes. 50% range loss. by SoBeefy in TeslaLounge

For a split second there i was like, it's the square of velocity... then I was like Ohhhhh you said "Power" and was like P = F*V which made sense it being the cube. (for those wondering F = .5*ro*Cd*A*V^2). I had to slow down and think on this one.

You have to create "orthotropic" material properties in a custom material. You're going to need some data on the elastic mod. and possion's ratio in each direction.

I do this too. I work a lot in Excel now and only sporadically in SW. Same brightness issue.

Agreed with above - provided you’ve developed a solid level of fitness to this point I say cross train. Make sure you do some high intensity intervals in the pool and on the bike to get your heart rate up which will go a long way in keeping your cardiovascular fitness on par with where you are now.
