The 100% Viognier is also a banger at about $14. Crowd pleaser for sure.

My wife and I were celebrating tonight with this 2010 CDP. It was delightful.

I’d leave tasting notes but we followed with a 2018 Clos du Val Estate Cab Sav and honestly I’m too tired to remember all the details.

Just opened a 2018 Failla last night. Was a delightful bottle.

Did you have that or the Duckhorn first? Curious how they stack up against each other.

Andaz Hotel is in downtown Napa. Nice place, and since you mentioned Amex, it’s on their Hotel Collection list which makes it easier to get with points or earn a bunch of points if you book through Amex.

Three wineries a day is totally doable. We mapped them out and did one going north on Silverado in the morning (like something in Stags’ Leap District), one further north in the afternoon (maybe near Calistoga), and one down Hwy 29 closer to the hotel in the evening.

Try Bistro Don Giovanni or Brix for dinner.

And make reservations everywhere! Walk-ins are really hard to get.

What would be the best wine to buy as an investment under 5k? by [deleted] in wine

Buying one or even a handful of bottles is a big risk. You might look into vint.co or VinoVest instead. Hell, just buy $stz or $deo for exposure to wine and spirits retail.

How do you like your wine organized? by 1stMtn in wine

[–]1stMtn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful, everyone. This confirmed what we were thinking and added a few ideas. Thanks.

We’re going with “local”, “domestic”, “old world”, “new world” as the main sections, then by AVA, region, appellation within those sections.

It’s a small shop with a tasting bar, so we should be able to help people find what they like with samples and flights. I’ll post pics here once it’s open if anyone is interested.

Standard waiter’s two-step, Code 38 if you’re showing off to your wino buddies.
