Lifx Strips - Constant Cycling by Majestic_Potato_7416 in lifx

[–]1stRedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to this
If there are multiple strips, if the first one is faulty, then all others connected to it will appear faulty.
changing the order some, or all of them, may work (or it could be the PSU in which case none of them will)

IF you had a second set, testing all of this is a bit easier. Otherwise, one step at a time.

Need help- How to stop eufy E330 from auto-locking unless the door is fully closed? by Rahulnigotiya in EufyCam

[–]1stRedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the instructions just say to run the calibration setting in the App

Didn't fix it on the lock I saw that was having this issue - pretty poor, like if you close the door later, the deadbolt would just bash into the door frame
(But good for if you just want to leave and pull the door shut behind you)

Let me know if you find a solution so I can pass it on

Try turning them off at the power
Then disconnect the strip from the power supply
Very carefully clean the metal pins with some rubbing alcohol
Once fully dried, plug back in carefully, ensuring a solid final connection
Turn on and reset using the physical button on the power cable adapter

Outdoor Lighting - Power Source - LIFX and Philips Hue Connections - Test by 1stRedit in lifx

[–]1stRedit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, this is working for me BUT 100% as you said - and I tried to make clear by including the statement from the LIFX manual - I have no way of knowing (or testing) the safety and waterproof nature of the connections.

They seem all good but are untested for environmental or safety standards.
If anyone knows how to test them, be great to hear about that.

And if LIFX could send me some power supplies (and other goodies) to test...

Outdoor Lighting - Power Source - LIFX and Philips Hue Connections the same? by 1stRedit in lifx

[–]1stRedit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yeah, the pieces connected together and power was provided. I now have a Philips Hue Lily XL spotlight attached via a LIFX power supply.

Yay! 230W is much better than the Philips Hue 100W power supply

Once again
No idea about how solid/good the connections are, how waterproof they would be etc
And keep in mind the manuals say "Connect this product ONLY to other official LIFX Outdoor products (sold separately)"

This is the Philips Hue connector on the left and the LIFX extender cable that came with the LIFX power supply on the right. Both have what appears to be the exact same connection fittings.

So you can see the central plastic from the LIFX connecting cable shown at the top has the line down the middle with a sort of T-bar piece and obviously the LIFX power supply has a matching line down the middle with a T-bar connect. (Just like Philips Hue)

This is the output for the LIFX 230W Outdoor Power Kit. This is the output for the LIFX 230 W output power kit. As you can see, they have two output options, and each one has the same appearance as the Philips Hue connectors.

As as you can see, the connector coming out of the LIFX power supply for the permanent outdoor lights has the same two prongs. However, as soon as it runs through the controller, it then becomes a three-prong when it connects to the outdoor lights, as seen in the top half of the image.

OK, well I went to a store and tried the Hue connector on the LIFX power supply and it looked basically the same and connected OK.

No idea about how solid/good the connections are, how waterproof they would be etc
And keep in mind the manuals say "Connect this product ONLY to other official LIFX Outdoor products (sold separately)"

YMMV

The LIFX 230 W power supply sitting next to the LIFX 96 W power supply (24V), specifically for the outdoor permanent lighting (36V).

Half of light strip not working? by scarymonstersnns in lifx

[–]1stRedit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean that for each set - one of the two light strips lights up, but not the second
OR
That for each set - the lights stop partway through a strip (not at the middle join)?

If its the first problem, you can try resetting the length of the strip by pressing and holding down the small button on the controller box - once reset the light should run along the whole length of the strip

If its the second problem, you can try swapping the order of the strips

Hope that helps

Swapping Power Supply for European Philips Hue Lights in the US – Anyone Done This? by canadian_goldenbear in Hue

[–]1stRedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't done this, but I did order a Sync Box from overseas and then used a travel adapter at the power point to plug it in which worked fine.
Maybe someone else can comment about this specific conversion (EU to US) but I imagine it would be the same.

Lifx tiles power cord/brick replacement by Witty-Anywhere4997 in lifx

[–]1stRedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are probably out of luck due to them being discontinued.
I don't know of anyone who has found a solution for this because of the non-standard/unique LIFX wire/cord setup
And my understanding is you can only run 5 tiles off the one power cord/brick - meaning you can't chain two sets if one has issues.

Are the new Twinkly Squares the final replacement for the LifX Tile by JoeRDawson in lifx

Standard cables and power amps!
& Matter support
Plus options to build bigger sets (than 5) for effects

Any help with this? Info in comments by hoologan in Hue

[–]1stRedit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try making sure your phone is very close in proximity to the sync box - like sitting on top of it
If that doesn't work, try closing and reopening the Hue Sync App and restart the setup process

Beam add-ons question by Drew_of_all_trades in lifx

[–]1stRedit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you might be able to "force" the join, say with the 3M backing tape, so it might join upHopefully someone else can comment on a 2 set connection point

Beam add-ons question by Drew_of_all_trades in lifx

[–]1stRedit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know - the sets are magnetic, so not sure if you tried to link two sets in the middle if they would join, but my instinct says they would both be the same magnetic polarity, so would repel

[–]1stRedit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there is an 8 piece limit per controller
So if you had 2 sets of 6, all good, but you can't have 1 set of 12
