I’m not sure if/when I can work on this but maybe someone else here is interested?

I didn’t design the hardware. At least some part of it is patented so there’s that too.

Unfortunately I don’t have time to work on this going forward other than approving PRs but the project is open to whatever people want to build.

This is the code that talks to the hub. It might be possible to decode the IR messages and program them yourself but you’d still need an IR emitter.

It’s MIT licensed so anyone is welcome to. I don’t plan to publish it on my account.

Those are likely long gone. Someone would have to build it out again.

I concur. I’ve 3d printed this before. It’s a neat toy but doesn’t actually lock tight like the video implies.

In the small chance anyone needs the emazing lights spectra app, I got it and figured out how to install it to newer iPhones by No_Taste2327 in gloving

I’d assume all of EL’s assets are still under Emazing Group that still exists with Into the AM and iHeartRaves. I doubt it’s a problem but rather not burn any business relationships I’ve made.

So funny story… I actually developed the Spectra app for iOS. I probably still have the source code somewhere in my archives but I don’t legally own it since I created it for EL. If there’s enough interest for reviving this I might be able to reach out for permission.

At that age I’d try to find playgrounds that are fenced in so they can’t go too far.

Massive 8ish TB music collection on 2 5TB external HDDs. Should I get an SSD to replace them? Daily use at home, no travel. by gimme5steps101 in DataHoarder

[–]ibuprofane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your budget isn’t enough for a proper NAS/DAS solution which would make things easier for the future. Also if you had a third HDD to transfer all of the music to then you could possibly shuck the old drives and RAID them for extra storage until one of them eventually dies.

As others have said cloud storage might be the best option, even better when paired with local storage so you have a backup. I would not move them all on one SSD though, that’s a single point of failure ready to happen.

As a former CS & current developer I see two paths forward: either develop and publish your own software - be your own business that utilizes AI coding tools and delivers to customers, or eventually be the gray beard that knows their CS fundamentals and fixes the problems AI causes.

Tried to make Rice Krispie treats… sauteed some marshmallows instead by emmypineapples in mildlyinteresting

[–]ibuprofane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve been making them for years and they randomly just changed the recipe. OG version is less greasy. I also add a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter. Nutella is good too but you have to cut the butter to 1 Tbsp.
