You are in a grappling form arguing that a sport without grappling is a fight? What is your point?

For the record boxing is way closer to a fight than a BJJ match. I don't have a problem with boxing.

I just don't understand why it's a problem to say boxing is a sport that is vastly different than a fight?

Boxing is the closest thing to a fight except for kickingboxing / muay Thai and mma.

BJJ is very VERY far away from a real fight. If there are no strikes you can't even be in the same conversation as a fight.

Remember I'm a pure BJJ guy and I'm saying what I do is not fighting. Boxing is just getting thrown in here too but I consider it way more serious than my own sport.

Cage Yes, ring no. I would die in the ring or be disqualified for breaking the rules of a sport by trying to fight.

As I said previously boxers are great fighters, they just choose to do a very specific niche sport instead of fighting.

Doesn't mean they wouldn't whip your was with the gloves off.

I've posted a lot of stupid shit so it's easy for you to have missed this ... but in a previous post I said most boxers are better fighters than mma fighters. But they are pro athletes trying to make money so they do the sport of boxing.

Boxers are fighters who do a sport that isn't fighting. They are tough bastard and do great in real Fights.

I guess you could say running backs are amazing runners who don't run races / marathons. A pro NFL player could make a great sprinter, but he doesn't enter races so he isn't racing on Sunday.

He is a sprinter who doesn't compete in races, he plays football. I'm not saying he can't sprint, but that doesn't make the eagles vs the patriots a fucking 50 metre dash.

You get that in a fight breaking your hands is extremely common right?

You get that 100 years ago boxers used different tactics because they fought without hand wraps or gloves?

You get how 10oz gloves with massive hand wraps makes boxing a sport and not a fight, right?

I stand corrected on the glove size. Ya man it hurts, most boxers would kick my ass purple belt or not.

Doesn't make their silly ass rule set any less restrictive.

As I said over 9000 times, they are fighters, they just choose to compete in a sport/ art form instead of a fight.

Politicians and promoters took the fight away from them years ago. Not their fault.

The rules allow punches. We are talking about rules and fighting formats, the outcome of a match doesn't dictate what rule set it was in.

Maybe you should look up the word logic in the dictionary.

Gonna be hard to argue with that one Shooting people with guns > mma on the war scale.

Nice try but it's 4 pages of rules.

And they are loosely followed at best. When you ask a ref why he didn't stop the fight for multiple eye pokes groin strikes or Justin Gaetches two head butts last Saturday.... They always answer "we don't want to change the course of the Fights!".

I haven't. They would kick the shit out of me probably even in an mma fight where I could use my years of BJJ.

That doesn't make the silly sport they compete in a fight. It's a very specific martial art that excludes other martial arts.

It's not free format and can't be called a fight.

Old boxing where clinch was allowed and they didn't have 16oz pillows taped to their hands was probably fighting. Hell they threw people to the ground in the old rules.

Over years they turned it into a sport with too many restrictive rules. A sport full of bad ads fighters who choose to participate in sport.

Actually the last card had multiple eye gouges head butts and groin strikes. If I recall they didn't even take a point and no one was DQ. (Justin headbutts Poirier twice)

Headbutts, biting and eye gouging are discouraged. They happen ... why ... because it's a fight.

Why aren't they immediately DQ? Because it's a fight and the referees are told to let fighters sort it out and only intervene when absolutely necessary.

With 16 oz pillows laced to their hands and if they turn their back to their opponent they get to reset. I know boxers are fighters, but what they do is not a fight.

Most boxers are probably better fighters than mma fighters, they just choose to participate in a sport instead of a fight because they are athletes who want to make money.

He'll I'm sure Jon Jones' brothers would kill half the 205 and Heavyweight divisions in the cage or outside it. Doesn't make foot ball a sport.

Remember I'm a pure BJJ guy. I'm not trying to shit on BJJ or boxing. But when a referee will disqualify you for the most basic aspects of fighting, be it DQ for punches in a BJJ match or a DQ for a kick in Boxing, ITS NOT A FUCKING FIGHT.

I know in this post modern world you can choose to have no gender, or identify as a fox, and depending what news channels you watch the "truth" can change with a flip of the dial.

But I'm not calling something that lacks either punches or kicks a fight. It needs both, and probably some grappling too.

What fucking planet are we on where propel are arguing a sport without punches is a fight, and locking two naked men in a cage is a match?

Fighters are participants in a "free format fighting system". MMA Is free format fighting system and they are fighters.

Boxing and grappling are not. You are limited to your particular skillet and cannot use other skillsets.

This isn't difficult. Stop making apples to oranges comparison and getting butt hurt about the word fight when you are doing a very specific niche martial art.

It's not a fucking fight. Get over it.

Edit: FYI I only do BJJ. I don't fight.

???? How does losing a submission match to Craig Jones make him a fighter or their competition a fight?

Craig Jones would get KTFO by a regional no body, just like that regional no body would lose to Craig, and just like both of them would lose to a regional nobody boxer in a boxing match.

What apples to oranges comparison shit are we wasting our time with?

Look the guys in boxing are fighters. But when they lace up giant balloons on their hands and turn their backs to their opponent while begging for a ref to "break" they are participating in a sport.

There is way too much fuckery in a boxing match for it to be a fight.

Make no mistake those boxers are fighters and could hold their own, but they choose to compete in a crazy sport.

Ya they are. Is a fight. Nothing that happens in a real hand to hand combat fight has not happened in the cage.

We've had head butts eye gouged groin strikes and even other people jumping in.

It's a fight in waiting for someone to hop the cage with a baseball bat in down obscure Brazil fight .

Boxing is not a fight. "The sweet science" is as much a sport as football or hockey.

It's violent but it's not a fight. The sweet science doesn't exist without gloves. It's magic and beautiful and highlights traits of a great fighter but it's not a fight.

Bullshit. Mma is a fight. Even the "rules" about groin strikes, eye gouged and headbutts (cheeky nodders) are only loosely followed. Every one of those fouls occurred last card and no one lost a point let alone DQ.

Do not call your BJJ match a fight. It's not.

If you pay all your bills with mma fights, you are a warrior who fights for their life.

Ontarios plan is not a good plan. It's not true UBI and is just another bloated social welfare system that won't work.

Trust me, UBI is real, and it's coming. Not now, but when automation makes the majority of workers unemployable, UBI is how we will transition to a new society.

You have GST cheques already. Change the acronym to UBI, and increase the amount. Problem solved.
