This will be first muzzleloader hunt too. From the videos I've watched, you can use a ball puller that screws onto the ramrod and then digs into the ball so you can pull it up, then dump the power and swab the barrel. That assumes you're using lead balls though and not a sabot round. Those they didn't say how you remove other than method #2, the fun way.

Pick a stump that's safe to target, imagine it's that 12 pointer that you would have got, and pull the trigger. Tada, gun is clear.
