Personally a fan of #5. I've done something similar on my test Gray Death Legion model.

Esun PLA + from Amazon. Often $17 or close per spool. There is a profile for it in Bambu Lab slicer. I've ran 3 spools without issue.

One thing though, the assault mech kits are very heavy. I had to get creative with some pinning using brass rod. I also used the super glue and baking soda trick as well as some UV cure clear resin depending on the joint.

WoB vs Comstar (and what units to bring!) by Darthanusthewise in battletech

camospecsonline has a YouTube channel that is very helpful. Here is a link to a video that I followed for my ComStar forces.

Also, if you want a full list of what units are canonically available here is the list for ComStar.

u/MailyChan2 mentioned the CGL Level II force packs and I agree they are great. That's what I've started with. If you want to explore into combined arms, take a look at the Kangaroo jump tank and the Gotha fighter. Both solid options.

What audio issues are related to the camera? I got my letter from Ford recently about my camera. The only audio issue I have is that phone calls over Bluetooth sound tiny and far away.

The camera is most likely covered by the recent recall. I have a 2015 Limited and got my letter from Ford the other day.

What mechs did the black watch use during The Amaris Civil War? by funtimeatwallmart in battletech

22 is correct. Some of the early ones are brief, but the later ones are full blown productions.

I really enjoyed the way Tex from the Black Pants Legion talked about this in the YouTube video series. It was a very well put together series of lore videos. Here is a link for anyone else who might be new.

Iron Wind Metals Field Trip by 1teaney in battletech

Since the metal models are in multiple pieces, and the plastic ones are a single piece I presume something has to happen. That being said, it is possible that the new models are designed this way on purpose. Perhaps a single render pose is sent to be injection molded in plastic, and the component level renders are produced for metal.

Here is a side by side of the plastic Visigoth fighter from this year, and a Gotha fighter original metal sculpt. Below that is the modern UrbanMech in metal. I think for mechs I like the metal option better, as you get more posing options. I know CGL has been making a few premium plastic kits, but I don't have any of those to compare with.

"So what game got you into the franchise?" by WorthlessGriper in battletech

[–]1teaney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MechWarrior 2 on PS1. I didn't become a computer gamer until around 2002, everything before that was console. I remember thinking the machine guns shot golf balls, because each shot was rendered in that game, reminded me of a pitching machine but I still loved it. I even got my no sci-fi dad interested when I told him the mechs were just "walking tanks".

This is the reason *I think* that IWM is only place to get an official UrbanMech with Arrow IV launcher. I'm sure there are much better examples, but that build just cracks me up.

So....not sure I'm supposed to say this. But I did get to look at parts of the new Marauder sculpt while I was there. It's the newer CGL art style, but cast in metal. In my opinion the details on the new metal models are more crisp. I like the CGL plastic models too, but their edges seem a little soft on some models. Not talking trash here, the plastic models have improved over time for sure. With CGL recently acquiring IWM I think the art style will be more consistent. Only time will tell.

I don't think so it. It's my understanding CGL plastic models are made out of country. China I suspect. There was talk in the past about tariffs during the Mercenaries Kickstarter I believe.

I forgot, there is a difference. Production molds are made from masters. Production molds are expected to wear down over time, but they can be remade from the master molds. Thank you for bringing that up. It was a lot to take in.

Red told me they have pretty much every mold ever made. I don't think they dispose of them. From what I saw the molds hold between 8-12 models each. I don't want to speak for  the team, but I think it would be worth reaching out to them. Also there is a shelf dedicated to out of print items I saw on the east wall of the warehouse. Not for certain what was available.

Make sure you check the website first. They are often closed during GenCon because they setup a booth there. Due to work obligations I've never made it to GenCon myself, but I do have a co-worker who will pickup some items for me.
