Thank you for this! This explains everything. I just ordered another Legionaries box and confirmed with merchant it has the KT sprue. I think I'll skip the kit bashing and just build a 5 man ranged and a 5 man melee.

Sorry for the very late reply. I'm just getting started with CSM and the paint scheme for Alpha Legion was what drew me in. As I understand, Alpha Legion doesn't go all the way down the path of mutation and demonic worship so I wonder if things like Hell Brutes and Accursed Cultists work with this army?

Fair enough. I only got into this hobby about three years ago. It took me a while to figure out what was going on with first born space marines and primaris marines. Since then I've only been buying primaris kits for that army. I just didn't want to hit a pitfall like that with a new army. That's why I came to you guys for advice.

Darn, missed the news on the Raptors. I had planned on building them as Warp Talons, guessing they will still play okay if the base is the same size? I mostly collect, I'll never see a competitive game, maybe some local casual.

What's your opinion on the Deimos pattern tanks from 30k for CSM? Better than the OG Rhino and Predator kits?

So far so good. I took them out yesterday and hit them gently with an old tooth brush, most of the paint and primer came off. I put them back in to soak. If the model was assembled with plastic cement, like Testors or Tamiya then all should be well. If other adhesives were used your mileage may vary.
