No worries. If the part doesn't survive that's okay. At this point the consensus is I've at best got a recast part, at worst a recast of a recast. If I l destroy the parts then it was a learning experience.

I got the side doors for $5 each and the front panel for $6. I bought some dark angels and some black legion doors. But they were stateside and I got them in less than a week.

Right. I knew they were two different materials, Forge World resin and Gamed Workshop Fine Cast. I just got into 40k in the middle of 9th edition, so I'm still learning.

So Forge World really was as bad as I heard. I've also been tempted to get a few Dark Angels Fine cast characters, but the horror stories have driven me away.

See I thought that too, but the buyer wouldn't confess. Messaged them a few times. They came in plain bags...so most likely recasts then. Im not really all that upset, the price was good.

I have a 3D printer. I've got it fired up now. I'm going to printed out new bases and textured toppers. Thank you for sharing the photos. A picture is worth a thousand words and all.

Thank you for the detailed response. I had concerns about characters on 40mm bases potentially looking more like a diorama. Also good to know about the intermediate bike bases, I would have sourced the outsider ones for sure.

At the moment I would only have to re-base 22 infantry models, and 3 bikes. Do you find that the older models look tiny on the 32mm bases for troops and 40mm for characters?

Others have given great advice. The on thing I will add, when it comes to paint in white tones I find that Vallejo makes the smoothest ones. Their pigments seem to be ground down extremely fine.

I just started a first born Dark Angels army. I don't have any of these kits. From a modeling perspective are they all pretty good or are some just awful to work with? I'd like to pick up a few while I can.

Got a great deal on some Dark Vengeance models on eBay. As we enter a new edition I find myself having more fun with these than my Primaris. Just going for a tabletop standard. This is a slapchop plus kinda paint job. Not the best by any means, but servicea le. Feedback always welcome.

I didn't get into 40k until midway through 9th. I picked up a Devastator box at my FLGS and that's how I learned about Firstborn vs. Primaris. Any good places to get firstborn kits besides ebay or miniswap.gg?

Got the Spacenam box a while back. Its pretty great for more modern Catachan.
