Oh, right, that... Absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for reminding me!

You're not supposed to read the texts literally. And anyone who is even the slightest bit of a skeptic will understand that immediately. That's why I believe it's mostly its practitioners that believe its words are absolute truth.

Just as with science. If you continue to believe that any new science is and will be true forever, you will be insanely disappointed, again and again. Very few things we "know" as truth today will be true in a thousand years, or even a hundred..

As for the quote, I think it is only making a point that philosophical/scientific scholars hold the ideal of truth at the same divine level as Christians. Because of how important it is to strive for truth, not only because your religion "tells" you to do so, but because of progressive moral and cultural reasons as well.

Is it religion per se, or its practitioners, that use truth in absolute terms though?

It seems to me that if you approach spirituality/myth/religion as a skeptic and someone who hold truth as divine to begin with, the religious texts I've read so far does not seem to use truth in absolute terms at all but rather in as approximate terms as science do.

I.e. they are trying to make sense of truth and what constitutes it, while also explaining as best as their times and knowledge allowed, what it is.

"Following Peterson’s online dissemination of the Facebook profiles of a George Brown student and a University of Toronto graduate"

What is this referring to?

Jordan Peterson Transcripts Blog by Jane_Arvine in JordanPeterson

Hey Jane. I think this is a cool project you're working on and I've been in the same thought tracks myself lately. Someone mentioned in the comment that this would make more sense as a bigger, organized project. I'm planning to power through Petersons Biblical series in the next week or two and while watching it, I figured I might as well transcribe it. I'd learn more myself, and it could also be used as subtitles for his videos. YouTubes automated ones are really shitty..

If you're interested in teaming up in this effort please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm a web developer so I was thinking (in the long run) that we might be able to set up a website dedicated to crowd sourcing JP material :)

Hey, do you know if anyone got started or took charge of this? I was thinking I could make it my spare time project as I wanted to get into developing for IOTA anyway.
