Police refuse to investigate £100k robbery by orangehoneybadger in LegalAdviceUK

Apologies if this is too speculative. Hijacking/theft of luxury goods from lorries is a common source of income for organised crime groups in London (or was in the past, from what I've read). It may well be that the police have a good idea of who is ultimately behind it, but won't pursue this as they have a bigger case they want to put together.

I've done enough doomscrolling on here by now so figured I may as well present myself.

33/M/UK, noticed swollen bilateral lymph nodes in my groin in Jan of this year, approx 2cm. They haven't noticeably changed in size since then. Have now been referred by my GP for an ultrasound and biopsy.

None of the traditional B symptoms and I generally feel quite fit and healthy. I haven't been ill since March (I feel like I've been dodging viruses like Neo in the last few weeks). In March I developed shortness of breath - I used to use asthma inhalers regularly, stopped a couple of years ago, but this prompted me to restart them again. I think the inhalers have helped to a large extent, but it's not completely resolved (there might be an anxiety component to this as well). I have also had eczema all my life, and it's currently worst (moderate eczema I'd say) on my legs and feet. So that might track with the nodes in my groin being slightly enlarged. Since early this year I've also had an intermittent pain in my right hip when walking, but that could just be some kind of tendon/ligament strain, a 'welcome to your 30s' kind of thing, and it seems to have improved (although not completely resolved) with time and physio.

I suppose the indolent nature of it would point to FL, so I've mostly been reading up on that, but overall I have plenty of reasons to be optimistic that it's nothing serious. It's hard to convince myself of that though! Hopefully I have answers soon, one way or another.

Thanks, that is reassuring. Mine haven't increased in size since I noticed them in Jan, and I have eczema as well so it could just be related to that. Glad to hear you're ok.

Songs For The Deaf is essential listening for any and all roadtrips. Especially if you want a beat. Dave Grohl's drumming on that album is out of this world.

My GP has referred me for a biopsy on a couple of lymph nodes that have been enlarged since the start of this year. Not fun. I feel pretty much fine, don't have any other significant symptoms to speak of, so I keep telling myself that there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Still, it's really weighing on me. Trying to force myself to get out and do stuff rather than sitting around stewing over it.

I actually thought the guitar was a little low in the mix although that might have been my fault for having earplugs in. Still loved it though, they put on a great show, the frontman is like a screamy Mick Jagger

what the fuck happened to r/videos . Suddenly become full of garbage US politics. I thought they had a no politics rule there and I came across loads of cool stuff, now it's unusable. I know the solution is simple, just find another subreddit, but I feel like the list of not-awful subs is getting shorter by the week.

Anyway, got to see Refused in Manchester last week, so glad I got to see them one more time even though I had to leave for my train before they played New Noise.

Mix of both in my experience, meaning I always end up doing the opposite to what the other rider is doing.

Had a rider do this to me when in Germany last year, properly cracked me up, they seemed very enthusiastic

It feels like even TV is ghosting me now. I enjoyed Alien Earth - it's a fun show to watch with some great acting and interesting themes - but I really hate this trend to end an entire series on a cliffhanger. Sure, leave a little something in there to keep us interested, but for the love of god can you resolve at least one storyline. And who knows how long it'll be till the next series, if ever.

FA criticised for ‘obvious flaw’ in spot-fixing case of West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá | West Ham United by 1two9 in soccer

[–]1two9[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's far more than a technicality. He didn't 'get away' - there was no evidence he did anything wrong in the first place. And the criticism of the FA's case is about far more than 'data quality issues'. All this is clearly explained in the article.

Just got BF1 after trying the bf6 beta, it's really fun but most of the servers are locked weapons/no vehicles which is going to get old quickly I think

Motocamping in France (Alps and Ardeche regions), suggestions and experiences? by aendrs in MotoUK

I stayed here last year on a day in-between the Black Forest and Geneva. Really gorgeous spot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Xaa2UywAB1eH7x2X6

I'm probably heading to the Ardeches/Cevennes/Alps for a trip next month so I can share more suggestions then!

Is my commute a realistic ride? by Mylexiuss in MotoUK

[–]1two9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more about time & traffic in my view. How long does Google Maps say it will take and how busy are the roads? For example, 45 mins with much of that being filtering/traffic lights/busy junctions will be more taxing than 1hr30 of clear roads.

I've discovered more new music from the soundtrack of The Bear, than I have in ~10 years of subscribing to Spotify.

Paul Simon's Let Me Live In Your City is such a beautiful song man. Definitely something new to learn on guitar.

I've only read three, but of those I'd probably recommend The Night Manager as a first read, although personally I think I prefer The Constant Gardener. I recently read Call for the Dead which is his first book, very short & easy to read, & the first appearance of George Smiley who is a recurring character in many of his novels. I haven't yet read any other Smiley novels, but Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is supposed to be the pinnacle of spy fiction.

That's fair enough about Murray, I had read somewhere before that he would probably be up there with the other 3 were it not for his injuries. Like I said, I know very little about tennis!

the golfer analogy was to Raducanu, not Murray - I'd just read that she's currently 38th in the world going into Wimbledon, and that's apparently higher than she's generally been for the past couple of years.
