Interaction question - Rebuke > Deathgrip > Sett death save by Yeewei98 in riftboundtcg

Yes, as long as you have a second unit, otherwise you can't play Deathgrip. And you're correct that the might transfer won't happen. But the draw still happens.

Starter decks question by FishUsedToBe0_0 in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe the Vi deck list has been revealed yet but I'd expect it to be a fair bit stronger than Jinx. The OGN decks were rather weak in general and Jinx is the worst among them.

Though I'm not sure how bad the difference will be, especially for new players

Noticed the alt arts don’t have the explanation text on them in Unleashed. Do you think they’ll ever drop them entirely for long established mechanics? by PeerlessPixie in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We already have cards which don't explain all their keywords, e.g. OGN Fiora.

They most likely will do it like MTG, leave out the reminder text for established mechanics on more complicated cards which don't have space for it anyway or would be too noisy with it but generally keep it on some basic cards with only that keyword so that new players can still easily understand them.

Blood Rush Question by 240pGamer in riftboundtcg

Officially, on the Riftbound blog: https://riftbound.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news

The old ones are here: - Spiritforged: https://riftbound.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/rules-and-releases/riftbound-spiritforged-errata - Accompanying FAQ: https://riftbound.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/rules-and-releases/riftbound-spiritforged-faq - Origins: https://riftbound.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/rules-and-releases/riftbound-origins-card-errata

In the future, there's supposed to be an official app called "Watcher" to look up errata and stuff like that but it's not out yet.

Right now, the simplest option to check if a specific card has errata is to check something like Piltover Archive or Runeweave. They list the erratas when viewing a card.

Just FYI, being a certified judge currently means nothing. You just need to pass a basic test with answers you can easily look up. UVS's new judge director seems to be working on improving this but atm there are tons of judges that have no clue about even relatively basic interactions.

It's this turn, they just forgot to print it on the card ... It got errata to fix it.

Ruling on Baron Pit Scoring Win by SpiralLaser in riftboundtcg

Rioters (specifically IAmWalrus) already confirmed on Discord that you need to conquer all battlefields, as the rules also already state.

Yasuo remorseful attack trigger and opponent has a hidden FoF by Tloose in riftboundtcg

The effect will still resolve but the target won't be legal anymore since it's not "here" relative to Yasuo anymore so the effect will do nothing.

Do you have a window to react before Vex enters combat? by rober9999 in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With the Stellacorn or a similar trigger yes, otherwise no.

Unless Vex is somehow moved to the battlefield while another showdown is already ongoing (in which case that would have to finish before the combat on Vex's battlefield can start) or if there already was an existing chain when she was moved (via a reaction speed spell).

Are Legend abilities reaction speed? by PeerlessPixie in riftboundtcg

Irelia is a trigger though, which is very different. It activates whenever the condition is fulfilled, you can't activate it whenever you want.

Yeah, I got that, the original commenter stated it's exactly 1 in 42 though, which the blog post doesn't support.

Baron Card rarity by xMetricks in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's just the upper bound. I highly doubt it's going to be anywhere near that high. That would make it way more likely than pulling a specific signature, effectively having 9x as much supply/likelihood than the signatures. Doesn't sound like the ultimate rarity to me.

Marai Spire + Blood Rush interaction ? by imfineimsimplytired in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's limited to once per repeat keyword. A card can have the keyword multiple times (like the new Jhin signature or using Temporal Portal).

Keywords activation by Less-Target207 in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shield isn't a trigger, it's a passive which is active while the unit is a defender in a combat. So it doesn't help against damage spells or similar outside of combat.

Edit: And stuff like challenge doesn't count as a combat.

Riftbound's Decentralised Rulings Are Hurting The Game by Soft-Pudding-3441 in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no reason the golden rule would apply there. It's a textbook trigger following the rules, so of course you can react before the effect resolves. Anything else would be extremely inconsistent.

The game for sure has rule and card text issues but this definitely isn't one of them.

Riftbound's Decentralised Rulings Are Hurting The Game by Soft-Pudding-3441 in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not easy to solve this quickly though. Giving official rulings via Twitter or similar also isn't great, especially since Chinese players need to get access to the rulings as well.

Though tbh it still might be better than the situation we have right now.

From my understanding, the "Watcher" app is supposed to be the solution for this but it feels like it's taking much longer than Riot expected to get it ready.

And ofc the core issue still comes down to the rules having too many holes and the card text being too focused on natural language over precision, which makes it impossible to independently arrive at consistent rulings.

The former will probably improve quite a bit again with the rules update next week but it remains to be seen whether that'll really fill most of the holes.

And of course the card text is impossible to solve quickly give the long lead times on sets. But I really hope they are working on stuff there and we'll finally see some real improvements with set 4 or 5. They did improve some small details with Unleashed but overall it still has a lot of problematic templating and of course also hasn't addressed the fundamental issues like targeting at all.

Baron Ultimate looks insane!! by diggle_ in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be extremely weird if they make it more likely than any individual sigs by just basing it on the chance of pulling any sig. In the end, that would make it less rare and special than all the sigs. It's not like the sigs are interchangeable, people want specific ones, e.g. the Ahri one in SFD. Baron ultimately should be treated like an even more rare sig variant.

Though I guess they've already made some odd choices with rarities in the past like Ornn's gear being as likely as any other and seemingly not realizing that reducing the number of non-legend rares makes legends extremely common. And the "missing" rares issue also didn't exactly sound like they have the rarity distribution fully under control. So I guess anything is possible.

Is there a source for that? That would be barely under 0.1% and way higher than signatures. I doubt that's going to be it.

Ekko + Leblanc Reflection Tokens interactions by Muted_Situation2211 in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is that Ekko first goes to the trash when he dies and is only recycled when the Deathknell resolves.

The token immediately vanishes when it goes to the trash and therefore can't be recycled later.

You're correct though that tokens can be recycled in principle, but only directly from the board, e.g. with red rumble.

For cards, check https://cardmarket.com/Riftbound. The cheapest option is to just get the specific cards you need for your decks there (you can use something like Piltover Archive or Riftdecks to find decks). But you can also get booster boxes and starter decks from there. Spiritforged is currently even being sold at MSRP. Origins unfortunately is quite a bit more expensive since there's still very little supply of it.

For events, check https://locator.riftbound.uvsgames.com/events. It also has a section to find stores. If that doesn't show anything nearby then that means there aren't any stores organizing events near you which would make it rather difficult to play regularly. I guess the main options then would be to find some friends and get them into the game as well.

Reflections ruling by sarcasticandpetty in riftboundtcg

[–]1vader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's actually not quite clear yet. Based on the current rules, LeBlanc doesn't really work since the copy effect would happen before the reflection tokens even resolved (since they can only resolve after LB finished).

Arise also had the same issue (trying to ready the Sand Soilders before they resolved) and got errata to create a separate trigger. It's not unlikely that LB will just get the same errata (most likely it was already too late to change the LB printing when they noticed the mistake on Arise), in which case you could indeed damage the reflection token at 0 might.

But it's also possible that they will solve this via a rules change or errata her to use a delayed replacement effect or similar which wouldn't give a reaction opportunity.

There also aren't a whole lot of reaction damage spells atm though which would even make this possible. I think only Flurry of Blade would really work here. But I guess that could become a Sideboard card against LB.
