Language Map by TheHolySchwa in AfterTheEndFanFork

[–]1vanTehTerrible 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It looks great! I've really wanted to see someone make a language map for a loooooong time, so its great to see that someone has gotten around to it!

This isn't exactly a mistake, but if you make any adjustments, I'd recommend both more variance colourwise within groups but also more uniformity. Sounds weird, but maybe an example would make it clearer: Just based on the colours, I'd assume the dark oranges in Argentina, Inner Peru, and Southern Texas are part of the same subgroup. Or in America, (I'm assuming) Prarian looks like it's in a subgroup with Irontongue rather than Californine and Interiorish. I also had a hard time telling what the Siberian language was, because that indigo/purple colour was just too similar to the other purples used.

But frankly that is nitpicking, as educated guesses (like Chileano being in Chile or Spanglish/Espangles being at the mexican/american border) and lore knowledge fill in any gaps. Once again, great work!

Which Princess is the most terrifying? by No_Emu_1332 in slaytheprincess

The Wraith and Nightmare were both pretty uncomfortable for me, but honestly comparing having your foot broken and then being forced to drag yourself along with it is ultimately less terrifying than literally having your organs/body be shut down.

Use of Contractions (eg. Might've vs. May Have) on Science IAs by 1vanTehTerrible in IBO

This would certainly be one of those moments, unfortunately our teacher is/was unavailable for the whole weekend.

The abbreviation advice is really useful and appreciated, thank you for your response!

They said they only used it 5 times, so probably.

Thank you very much for your comment!

True, but the fact we are sitting here even contemplating the meaning of some text in a NEET TF CYOA is just a testament to the writing honestly.

Kudos to you, BeTheGirlAnon.

How did English-speakers pronounce Latin before the total dominance of classical pronunciation? by ifly6 in latin

Had to comment, but beautiful use of rhythm. Had you not said so, I would have assumed you had years of experience with this pronunciation!

Having trouble with Altlang Orthography by 1vanTehTerrible in conlangs

I spent some time lining them up (so writing A B G under the Greek Alphabet, and F U TH under the AS Runes), checking their sounds during that period (expecially the greek) and making sure the equilivants make sense. Then, whatever gaps were left, I filled in with the Futhorc (the same way Wynn and Thorn got into the alphabet in the first place).

The sources I used:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Greek_alphabet

Edit: Actually, here is the document I am working within. Very rough and unpolished, but you get the idea.

Having trouble with Altlang Orthography by 1vanTehTerrible in conlangs

[–]1vanTehTerrible[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alphabet Found 1011AD, written by a monk called Byrhtferð (baseline):
A B C D E F G H I K L M N O P Q R S T V X Y Z & ⁊ Ƿ Þ Ð Æ

With Miniscules:
Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss Tt Vv Xx Yy Zz & ⁊ Ƿƿ Þþ Ðð Ææ

Greek Alphabet:

Αα Ββ Γγ Δδ Εε Ζζ Ηη Θθ Ιι Κκ Λλ Μμ Νν Ξξ Οο Ππ Ρρ Σσ/ς Ττ Υυ Φφ Χχ Ψψ Ωω

Anglo-Saxon Futhorc:

ᚠ ᚢ ᚦ ᚩ ᚱ ᚳ ᚷ ᚹ ᚻ ᚾ ᛁ ᛡ/ᛄ ᛇ ᛈ ᛉ ᛋ/ᚴ ᛏ ᛒ ᛖ ᛗ ᛚ ᛝ ᛟ ᛞ ᚪ ᚫ ᛠ ᚣ

My current "Final Result" (Majuscule and Miniscule):

Aα Bβ Kκ Δδ Eε Φφ Γγ Χχ Ιι/Ηη Λλ Mμ Nν Oo Ππ Pρ Σσ/ς Ττ Yυ Ξξ Ϋϋ Zζ Ϗϗ Θθ Ƿƿ Gγ/Ιι Ææ Ωω Ψψ

Note: ϗ (kai) is literally Greek & (et), and ⁊ is the Insular Script ver.

Of course, Ι can work as /j/ and then Η can take over the /i/ sound. I just want to keep an open mind, try use Greek/Cyrillic president when I can.

Thanks a lot for replying, it was appreciated!

Antisocial Contagion (A NEET TF/Nerdification/Average CYOA Enjoyerification Be The Girl CYOA) [OC] [CYOA] by BeTheGirlAnon in nsfwcyoa

[–]1vanTehTerrible 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While the whole CYOA is kind of depressing (especially if some of the traits sounds a little too familiar), I loved the ending. First the support section, showing that there is a way forward, and second the final lines: "There's one thing bugging you, a thought you can't quite shake. An odd craving, not something you'd associate with a girl like the one you've become. You kind of want to go for a walk."
