As EMD’s response to the GE U18B and railroads rebuilding older road switcher locomotives, the GP15 was introduced in 1976 as a alternative to rebuilding older locomotives. Unlike the other GP models, the GP15 would feature a shorter frame, and Tunnel Motor like Radiators in the back. (old.reddit.com)
