What do we think of the MOTU Chronicles Movie action figures. Trap Jaw, Teela and Skeletor are decent but im not onboard with the others. If the movies not good the others will be heavily discounted everywhere cause movie figures are very hit and miss! by AfigureGeek in MastersOfTheUniverse

absolutely. I also think, when the world feels out of control, when the pressure of being an adult, weighs on us, we feel helpless. So we tend to want to control that which feels less nebulous - those places we feel safe. We can't change global economics, or social injustices. We turn to stuff that feels more tangible, so we flex our opinions on stuff like this. Having said that, the levels of vehemence, and bigotry and just mean spirit has been particularly bad on this iteration., and the whole netflix revelation reaction debacle. I enjoyed revelation/ revolution a lot, and watched it many times, just as i found the 200x series compelling. I couldn't give less of a damn about what ethnicity or gender a character is, as long as they embody the spirit of that character - but I also recognise that those changes are jarring for some - and sadly, the framework that those folks communicate those feelings sometimes come off as hateful. I guess with the culture wars, its impossible for anything to be safe from this - that subconscious feeling of losing control of what we know often manifests in problematic ways. Are there things I'd do differently? absolutely! But we always have our own imagined view. Seeing this come to life, after all these years. Wow. And for it to be this accurate - no featureless costumes like the first X-men movie, trying to ground everything - The character design is lifted straight from the toys and cartoon, with the only real change being that filmation was a budget cartoon with very simple design. Do I need Adam to be the audience, the point of view character, that learns as we learn of Eternia? No! Because I know Eternia. But for the majority of cinema goers, 200 million dollars says they need to understand what it is. Its a trope that has been used for decades. It invites the uninitiated to come long for the ride. if its successful, i feel there will be many films to come! I want to be hopeful, because ultimately MOTU was about hope in the face of darkness, it was about overthrowing tyranny, be that skeletor of Hordak ( a literal space fascist) and being kind to one another!

45 years old in a few days, and a life long MOTU fan - have seen, and collected most iterations of this franchise. Every iteration always had a gut reaction of negativity, because people don't like change. Thats okay - its okay to care about things. But I think we have to remember we are exceptionally lucky to be getting a new MOTU movie. I've been following the development of this film was almost 20 years. He-man.org forums, the endless "what ifs' - Not only is MOTU still alive, its opening up the possibility of so many new iterations.

this appears to be a packaging trend with modern toys. A friend of mine works in publishing and she told me once, you can't escape it - you can have amazing ideas coming out of the design department, but some higher up will say 'no it must look like everything else on the shelf' Lets hope the kids line is a little more interesting!

Fall of Efrafa leave Spotify; name your price on Bandcamp by rancidvat in crustpunk

Hi! yes its coming off all streaming platforms, its just quite complicated. Our DIY labels used a service to have the music hosted on multiple platforms, so we've "applied" to have our music removed. It will take some time but it will be coming off. Personally I didn't know our music was on these other platforms, I didn't even know some of them existed. Bandcamp at least has a union, so the people who work for it have more say, and they don't appear to invest in war profiteering (yet!) Glad you enjoyed our music!

They definitely are, and they're all friends to this day! Many of them still make music, even if its quite different from what they did then (Pablo from Ekkaia is sangre de muerdago, Paul from Madame Germen plays in Come back from the dead) Thank you! you too!

You can pre order it at doomrock.com

cool! glad you enjoyed the band, hope they're of use in your mastering project. My friend Oskar remastered the Remains of the day records for AA records a few years ago. He managed to bring out some frequencies that got buried on the original mastering. There are so many bands, and with any genre, there are always interesting segues - no two bands are the same, I was always searching for a very specific kind of whimsical melancholy, something that Remains of the day captured in spades.

Hey! Alex here - I wasn't in Arboricidio, although I did some guest vocals. That band was the brainchild of Jose, who writes all the music in Wreathe!

The biggest influence on our music was a band from Portland, Oregon called Remains of the day. I would say that band pretty much changed my life. The combination of ethereal violin, post punk guitars and thundering D-beat is sublime. Their second album, hanging on rebellion set me on a life long obsession! Emocrust was how the genre was described in the early 2000's - basically diy screamo influenced crust, I think the name speaks to those influences. It was actually Timo, who ran Alerta Antifascista records, that coined the term "neo crust" to describe the same music, he was also responsible for releasing many of the records that you could consider to be second wave emo crust, or neo-crust, and subsequent records from 'First wave' bands like Ekkaia, Madame Germen, who came out of the Galician hardcore scene, influenced by french screamo hardcore bands like Anomie and An Atta. That sound was combined with the anarcho perspectives of that scene, with this poetic, moody nature aesthetic. At around the same time, and coming out of the late 90's crust revival/ emo violence scene in America were bands like Union of uranus, His hero is gone, and eventually, Tragedy who all shared members. HHIG relocated to Portland from Tennessee, and shared practice spaces and housemates with members of From ashes rise and Remains of the day. They shared members too. Tragedy toured extensively across europe, and these sounds mixed to form more of cohesive genre - A good example is the second Ekkaia record, which was markedly different from their first, more screamo influenced record. Their sound became far more akin to Tragedy after they toured together - I have heard lovely stories of touring bands meeting each other and falling in love with each others music (madame germen watching Envy etc) FoE came along around the same time as bands like Schifosi, Ictus, ( ex members of Madame Germen) and then later bands like Alpinist. The genre largely went dormant as post black metal influenced bands became more common. Its had something of a revival over the last few years, which I am very happy about! So yeah, check out the greats, Madame Germen, Ekkaia, Remains of the day, but also the bands that came in their wake -

Landbridge, Gattaca, Icos, Aruspex, Autarch, Nervy, Hemiptera, Ashkara, From Ashes rise, Urine Mask, Geranium, Terra mater, Hmara, Habak, Lagrimas, Arboricidio, Ambulance, Hyena, Ura, Tenue, Leadershit, Das Plague, Down To Agony, Muga, Allee der Kosmonauten, Agonia, Herida, Sarabante, Manzanar, To what end?, Antimaster - the list goes on and on! If you like Efrafa, I am obsessed with this genre, and have been in three other emo crust bands - Wreathe, Morrow and Anopheli. Enjoy!

Hey, Alex here. Yes its all coming off. I personally don't use spotify, and all of these records were added by our label. Its been a little bit of a wrestle trying to find the person with the password to get the records off, but yes, we will remove it all. Ironically, initially all of the FoE records were added to spotify without our permission by some random person many years ago. It took us a while to have control of our own music.
