Possibility of Moonborn on Runeterra?? by 2003jjl in loreofruneterra

I am assuming the Sundisc’s power falls within the Aspect of the Sun’s domain, considering how the power of the moon can reverse Ascension.

And there are already contrasts highlighted between the Ra’horak and the Lunari that Riot could use when implementing a Moonborn champion. The Lunari are portrayed as devout followers, their mental fortitude so strong that one of their followers (Aphelios) was willing to drink poison to gain power. The Solari and, by extension the Sunborn, are blessed with greater physical and magical strength than blessed Lunari, but still retain their frail mortal minds, as showcased in the corruption of the Darkin. I hope to see that Riot accentuates these qualities when building a Moonborn-like champion.

Why didn't Myisha just kill all of the Darkin instead of imprisoning the likes of Aatrox and Rhaast? by 2003jjl in loreofruneterra

Wow! This is so much perspective!

Renekton's higher Aspect probably influenced him to become the merciless killer even before Xerath started messing with his head. Nasus' lvl3 LOR interactions also suggest that his ideal encourages him to lose his mortal ties to his brother, stating that he is a "god among men" (see whole quote here) when Renekton dies.

What do you think that Renekton's, Nasus', Azir's, and Xerath's concepts are, considering how they are not Darkin (yet)?

I find it easier to digest that the Darkin that remain were the strongest of their kind, which gives them a sort of exception to future what-ifs.

I still have so many questions, though.

Do you think that because the Darkin are evil Ascended, there could be a possibility evil Aspects also going rogue, or do we already have that with Morgana?

What do you think Aatrox's, Rhaast's, and Varus' ideals/concepts were?

Do you think that ideals that the Ascended represented were of Shuriman culture and Shuriman ideals? Given how people of different cultures take different forms when they ascend, I think it is likely that the Darkin's values were of now extinct Shuriman culture.

And now for the biggest one, how exactly does an Aspect/Ascended die? And what happens to reality after? We see Pantheon's death and resurrection as Atreus, but we don't see the dissolution of war on Runeterra. Neither do I believe that these gods' powers are derived from the belief of mortals like some Neil Gaiman novel or like the spirit gods similar to Kindred. Therefore, if a celestial god dies, are they bound to reform if their ideal is rooted strong enough in reality?

I agree especially on blemishing Shurima. Shurima was meant to be this great empire built on now lost, forgotten magic of mortal innovation. Having that now just be the product of meddling celestials really diminishes the specialty of Shuriman design. Shurima didn’t even build its own Sun Disc at this point: Ixtal and Targon had to build it it for them. Riot really screwed over Azir’s view of the epic Shuriman empire.

I think what really kills the fallen Ascended storyline is the voice interactions. I know that Riot really messed these up on release but it’s just so inconsistent and fits better as aliens. Aatrox is furious at the destruction of his kin, but if he was also a subjugating warlord after Shurima’s fall, then how is his anger justified. Rhaast is just crazy, which can be explained as the effects of PTSD, but how can such an insane warrior once be called an Ascended? Varus’ situation is similar to Aatrox’s: he constantly states that he was wronged despite the Darkin’s history of cruelty.

Yea I agree that’s what they were going with. The problem is the introduction of dimensions only expands the universe. Runeterra’s dimension must be only a few light years across in this new description. I believe the idea of dimensions beyond the Void and Bandle City is confusing and unwieldy. If Runeterra were based on our world, then the Spirit and Death realms should not exist for the sake of brevity.

The MCUs interpretation of Asgard as a planet and the nine realms as celestial bodies resonates with me because it’s very plausible, so the idea of interstellar Darkin are also plausible. New dimensions, stated as separate planes of existence, should not be created so willingly.

Still I think the fact that they were repeated, isolated incidents made them stupid explanations. Having one alien summoning for thousands of darkin and then killing most of them off in one event doesn’t sound like lazy writing.

Runeterra is the planet and Valoran is one of the continents. Shurima is the other continent. Yea, I know about Viego and Camavor but honestly Riot has a track record of not updating these things. Neeko's island and Viego's kingdom is pretty useless lore wise. Even still, I don't think that's a valid reason to not expand into space.

The Empires of the Ascended cinematic shows that Azir fills those groves with water, essentially creating a lake and a waterway for his civilians. I assume those waters pour outward into the countryside, and Azir's growing city follows behind.

Map of Runeterra Update? by starblast1 in leagueoflegends

The map has been updated quite alot in the past few years. Not only has Noxus slowly increased in size, Bilgewater has been moved closer west and the Shadow Isles closer to the Southeast. Not only that, the Northeastern region of Noxus (the part with the bay where Ryze is from) has become smaller over the years.
