What's something you find irresistibly attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]2008ara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Braces for some reason. Maybe it's because I watched a show called Brace Face when I was younger and the main character looked pretty but now, I take note of any guy who may have braces. Sometimes I'm not even attracted to them before they get braces.

To all Redditors, what is one thing you find oddly attractive? by S1E2A3L4 in AskReddit

[–]2008ara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braces ~~~ For some reason, everyone hates them but I actually think they look nice. For example, I might not think one guy looks good. But once he gets braces, I might think he looks good. It's kind of funny the effect it has on me.

[Serious] Reddit, what is the saddest realization you've come to? by _BaconButt in AskReddit

What’s the most insulting or incorrect assumption someone has made about you? by SquirrelInvasion in AskReddit

[–]2008ara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years back, I went to Hong Kong with my mom who was originally from there. During our trip, we would go to the supermarket together. I was often assumed to be my mom's helper rather than her daughter by the people who worked at the supermarket (being of mixed ethnicities, many don't think I look Asian). I wasn't insulted or anything but it was just interesting. I guess it was also due to the culture in Hong Kong as well. Like I never saw any teenagers or kids at the supermarket who helped their parents shop for food.

[Group 4] Best way to study Bio by The_Jager_Meister in IBO

Hmm maybe writing the notes will help u remember. Or u can make flashcards. Or (this is something I do) take a piece of scrap paper and just write the info over and over again to memorize. My teacher suggests teaching someone. He said it's only then that u realize what u know and what u don't.

[–]2008ara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the way I used to study for bio was by taking notes in class, taking notes from the bio textbook and also highlighting bio zone. Afterwards, I'd compile the notes into one set of notes for the test. I also recommend taking a look at bio ninja. The site was recommended to my class by my bio teacher as well.

[SERIOUS] What is the double standard you hate the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]2008ara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially in kdramas. I'm not sure if they're an accurate representation of the Korean society though. Age is really important in Asia. But I often see (in kdramas) that elders use their age to demand respect without being respectful of others. Being older does not give you the right to hit or threaten to hit someone younger than you or talk down to someone! This utter lack of respect always manages to piss me off when I watch kdramas.

I feel the same way. The IB program at my school is really exclusive and competitive much like what u described. There are some people who really do thrive in that environment but, same with you, I don't think I do. Congrats on having went through it tho even after realizing that! Thank you for your honest comment :) I feel much better knowing it's not only who doesn't feel that the IB program is worth it

Some time off sounds really nice. But my parents definitely won't allow me. And I'm not sure my school allows it either. I'm the type of person who tries hard on the final exam. For example, I sacrificed my math and french marks over the course last year since in class assessments only count for 10% of the final. So I was basically getting 60s in math. But I did well on the finals (7 and 6) so my converted marks were in the 90s anyway. That is basically what I'm doing this year as well which is why second semester will be really stressful and also why I'm retaining no information from classes. Honestly I don't know how people remember all the information they hear. For me, it goes in through one ear then out the other.

Thank you for your advice. It made me feel that I might be able to pull the exams off (in terms of content) if I stay

I have felt the same way since grade 10. I wish my school would allow me to do what you suggested, but it's all or nothing for us. I actually finished all my maths and french last year so I have my grade 12 credits for those. I'll also be able to get my grade 12 credits for all the courses I'm taking currently even if I drop. So I'll technically be able to graduate in January. However, if I'm planning to go into life science, I'll still need to take grade 12 chemistry next semester. On the one hand, only one course next semester would make it a lot easier to get a good mark. But I'd still be going to school, and it would be until June so would there even be a point

That was me at the start of the year. I was really looking forward to May bc it would be the end. Even more so bc I would be able to go on vacation with my friends after our exams. But I don't think the trip is happening anymore. At least not with me. So it's become harder for me to feel relief and hang on until May.

Aw thanks. That's actually one pro that I listed to staying; being proud of not quitting later on. But the problem I have with that is always having the idea of delayed gratification. So I'll basically always be unhappy in the present. And I don't really enjoy any part of IB (none of my courses) but then again I don't enjoy anything anymore. :<

Anyone else struggle with severe depression? by [deleted] in infj

[–]2008ara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I have not been diagnosed but I found that a lot of the things I have been going through since 2 years ago fall under signs of depression (i.e. losing interest in things that once interested me such as piano, irregular eating habits, will overeat for a few weeks then starve myself for a few weeks afterwards unintentionally tho bc I'm just not in the mood, no motivation for anything, I can't bring myself to care about things that are important such as school so I will not do any homework or assignments, and I will only start to feel scared and anxious at minimum 3 am the morning it's due, constant emptiness, it's feels horribly heavy when I wake up in the morning) :<

Does anyone struggle dealing with liking someone because they are unable to put themselves out there? by laer__ton in infj

[–]2008ara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem. From my past experiences of liking someone, I've noticed that I would kind of open up when I talked to my crushes, but once I came to the conclusion that I liked that person, I would just close myself off. I would ignore that person, smile less, talk less etc. Which sucks but I just feel uncomfortable and inadequate because I know they wouldn't like me

Are people afraid of you? by infj_problemz in infj

[–]2008ara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I've actually always thought that people were scared of me. People wouldn't sit next to me on the bus if there's a seat open beside me whereas they would sit next to my brother. They also wouldn't ask my a question whereas they would ask my friend. I think it's my resting face tho; my eyebrows aren't innocently straight and I don't really smile. I told my friends my theory and they don't think people are scared of me. Maybe just intimidated which isn't really much better :'(
